Finding an authentic North Indian food in Namma Bengaluru, earlier seemed difficult, but not now. These days such restaurants are do sprouting up. Some source expert cooks, chefs and even the raw materials directly from North to give the authenticity to the quality and taste, while some hire cooks with no culinary experience and then train them with their in-house secret recipes. They even source the raw materials locally but use their expertise and finesse (what, when, how) to maintain the authenticity. One such restaurant (second category) we recently came across is Halwai Junction in Yelahanka New Town. This restaurant, though was started 2.5 years back but the last 2 years went in Covid lockdown. Based on the quality, variety and authenticity of North Indian taste, we believe they deserve to be known to more and more people. For now, they are known to people nearby their base location, though they do have few loyal customers who travel from far-off to gorge on their delicacies. They serve sweets, parathas, chaats/pakodas, main course and beverages/snacks. Though they don't have all the hi-fi items in each category but whatever they have speak in itself the uniqueness in terms of the ingredients & the way it is cooked. You got to try them out to believe it. We visited this place for Saturday's lunch and tried the below delicacies: BEVERAGES: 1) THANDAI - Made with in-house secret recipe 2) LASSI - Thick and creamy, garnished with dry fruits 3) NIMBU MASALA SHIKANJI 4) MASALA GINGER TEA - I tried 2 rounds (freshly made each time) and the taste was consistent as in the 1st round CHAATS: SAMOSA CHAAT and KACHORI CHAAT - Samosa and Kachori were made with different stuffings and then both were served topped with ragda, chutneys, onion, tomatoes, sev and in-house chaat masalas MAIN COURSE: 1) AMRITSARI CHHOLE BHATURE - 2 large fluffy bhatures with spicy and aptly cooked chhole, served with sliced onion and jeera aloo 2) MATAR POORI WITH ALOO SABZI - If you are from North India or have travelled there ever in a train, you would have atleast once tried or have seen people buying poori & aloo ki sabzi combo. This is being sold as a morning breakfast item on train stations in North India. We got this same feeling as soon as we tried the rasse wale aloo sabzi here. The poories were stuffed with spicy green peas filling and it complimented well with the aloo sabzi 3) SPICY BUTTER TAWA PULAO - Perfectly cooked aromatic long grain rice, with melange of veggies in a spicy mixture, topped with chopped coriander leaves DESSERTS: 1) JAMOON WITH RABDI - A match made in heaven. Must try, if you have a sweet tooth 2) KESAR JALEBI - Perfectly crispy with apt sweetness (not overloaded with sugary syrup). Best part, even when I opened the parcelled jalebi after 4 hours, it was still crispy We highly recommend this place.

This outlet is located at first floor above fab India Yelankha new town. It's been 2.5 years they are serving authentic North Indian Punjabi food preferable amritsari cuisine as the owner and sou chef or halwai is of Amritsar native. Their ingredients are local but taste is native due to the old secret recipes of their family( grandmother ; mother) hence one can feel that typical taste of Punjab. Their masala are made from scratch and it's inhouse. As the owner do not have any experience of restaurant she aims to provide the flavours and experience of food which you can get at halwai shops in North of India. The chef and staff working has no culinary degree they are typical halwai which is unique thing hence one can have real gastronomical experience. Coming to the food we tried Cholle bhature; Mathura style mattar puri with aloo ko sabzi rasedaar; samosa chaat; kachori chat; Tawa pulav;thandai; lassi; jalebi; gulab jamun rabri; and masala chai. Their food was cooked well and spice level was perfect. The dishes I mentioned is must try. The price quantity ratio is justified all over a good place in budget. The service is quick and they serve only fresh food made to order thing they follow. Highly recommended .

Recently visited Halwai junction. I must say that the staff is very courteous and well-trained. Special thanks to Chef Sunny who prepares everything with a gracious smile. Tikki chaat was absolute fresh as the tikkis were prepared from scratch just before making the chat, It tasted great. Cocktail samosas (mini samosas) were also prepared fresh and tasted delicious 😋 The bhatura is light, fluffy and delicious, whereas the chole is packed with flavours bomb. Lastly the gulabjamuns , they use only freshly made khoya made by them, no wonder it tastes so different & so good from rest of the places I have tried. They are spongy, soft & super yummy!! Will keep visiting this place with family and friends again and again. Highly recommended!!! Ambience - 5/5 Taste - 5/5 Service - 5/5

Food is great. Gives you the typical North Indian touch. Chole Bhature is their main attraction. Even the lassi has the North Indian taste. But the food price offered is too high and the seating capacity is highly limited. Improvisations- 1. Currently dine in capacity is very limited and thus does not attract a larger audience. 2. Although the food quality offered is good, but is very pricy. Yes, the food taste lingers to the northern style but the quantity offered is less. 3. Need to add more North Indian varities in their menu and definitely need to bring down their prices because the restaurant is established in a primarily south indian dominated residential area. If planning to relocate, corporate areas can be targeted and the current prices offered for the food would be justified.

Order : 2 Chole Bhatura, 1 Lassi Good : Lassi good Bad : Chole lacked the punched. You can get a better taste when you make at home. Lacked salt also. But even after adding salt didnt get the feel. Bhatura was hard and felt quite heavy to eat. Similar to the feeling what you get when eating a pizza with very thick base.
