Honestly shocked to see so many negative reviews. My husband and I went just a few days ago, and loved the food. While the place is not too big, and we had to wait 10 minutes to get a table - the food felt very homely, like a warm hug. We've been recommending the place to our friends and family. We had the parotta, mutton curry soru and Irani chai. It was so good!

The Biryani arrived much earlier than most other items and starters. Ended up packing the sides and starters as we were already done with Biryani. Overall a good experience. Recommended for a pleasant family dining experience.

Food was good - but service and timing could be improved. But first priority hygiene is mandatory and no compromise. I saw a small insect/cockroach in the table. I was disappointed - I stopped eating and left the place paying the check

Absolutely terrible experience at The Ambur Canteen. We went there for lunch with good expectations based on the name, but ended up walking out without eating after waiting nearly 45 minutes. First of all, for a place called “Ambur Canteen,” there was hardly anything that actually felt like authentic Ambur-style food or menu options. The menu itself was confusing, and whenever we asked about items, the response from the staff was either rude or “don’t know whether it’s available or not.” Nobody seemed interested in helping customers properly. The staff behavior was one of the worst parts of the experience. Very rude, careless, arrogant, and completely lacking basic customer service etiquette. We were there as paying customers, not begging for food. The way we were treated was honestly insulting. Even after waiting for almost 45 minutes, there was no clarity on food availability or service. Finally, we had no choice but to walk out. I also noticed the table next to us facing similar frustration and confusion with the staff. The owner seriously needs to work on staff attitude, menu management, communication, and overall hospitality standards. A restaurant cannot survive just with a name while treating customers this badly. One of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. Definitely NOT recommended.

Worst service ever. looks like the service lady was very disinterested to even ask what we want to eat. If we had asked something which was on the menu she was showing faces saying that it is not available. Will not recommend this place to anybody.
