Finally visited Dawat-E-Kashmir, the only authentication kashmiri restaurant in kolkata where food is prepared by Kashmiri chef! Had a wonderful experience, not every item was out of this world, but I would definitely visit again for their Tabak Maaz, Gustaba, rishta, Yakhni pulao with Mutton , Biryani . These items were some of the must try items in entire kolkata! Visit this pujo or during the winter I would suggest to go in a group so that you can try more dishes .

Visited dawat e kashmir for my dads birthday lunch. The restaurant is small , i was expecting a larger set up. Cannot be called fine dining but pricey in terms of ambience. Now coming to food we ordered the mutton kanti as starter , and the 2800/- thali which had everything. from rista to mutton ribs to gostaba to seek kebabs to pulao to rogan josh & wazwan. The rishta and Gostaba was good and different , pulao was tasty but kanti and rogan josh was very average and had a typical meat smell. Not well marinated and the seeks kebabs were chewy and dry. The servers are trying their best but the Chef must up his game game .

My husband and I visited the restaurant on a Saturday and here is what we feel about this restaurant - Wins: 1. Well behaved waiter who helped us choose the correct food. 2. Food was timely served 3. Mutton piece in the curry was cooked perfectly. Opportunities : 1. Light above our seat was blinking and needed to be fixed. The ambience could be improved. 2. Food had no taste. I was excited to taste "wazwan" thali which had "Riste"- a meat ball white gravy but I was low key sad when it tasted soapy and tasteless. Mutton was cooked tender but it lacked taste. 3. A lady (probably their manager) was staring at us while we were eating. Not sure whether she was trying to gauge whether we are liking the food but that didn't make us feel comfortable. 4. Traditional mobile handwash basin that the waiter brought to us for washing our hands before we started eating had cold water. Not sure if that is how it is served in Kashmir - warm water with a little lemon could do wonders and would make the customers feel more homely. 5. The plates could be cleaner. 6. Very pricey in comparison to food quality. 7. Staff could work a little on engaging with the customers to check what they can do to improve the quality of food instead of just lazying around, looking into their mobiles - in short, in order to deliver your best, you need to know how the city loves to be treated! 8. They only take cash or UPI and need to have card machine arranged due to the kind of pricey food they sell. Not everyone is comfortable paying up in cash or upi. I feel they have the potential as there isn't too many authentic Kashmiri restaurants in the town but they seem too disinterested. I didn't like my experience and won't probably go back again unless I see better reviews from people who have visited after me.
