A theme based dining experience is what you can expect to savour if you visit the place. The wild staccato beat of the African drums played over the speakers and the large TV playing scenes from the wilds will set the tune as you take your seat. The servers, majority of them women, were dressed in African themed printed garments and their welcome is certainly laced with large dollops of warmth making you feel at home instantly. The quality of food as well as the availability of options is something that the owner needs to introspect and see how same can be improved. Overall, A place certainly worth visiting.

For those who love exploring new cuisines, this one’s for you! ✨ At Flavours of Africa in Kolkata, Chef Rosie from Ghana serves authentic African delights every weekend. I tried the Kenyan soup, which was warm and comforting, and the Nigerian scotch eggs, which were absolutely delicious and such a treat! The jollof rice might take me one or two more tries to fully appreciate, but that’s the fun of discovering new flavors, right? 🌍 Each dish carries a taste of tradition and culture, making it a unique experience. Come by and get your little taste of Africa in Kolkata!

Had an amazing time here! The dishes, especially the Jollof rice and African version of spicy mutton, packed with rich, authentic flavors and presented with real care. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for kicking back and enjoying a great meal. The staff were fantastic: warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Visiting South Africa has always been on my bucket list, and this place gave me a delicious glimpse into that experience. Definitely worth a visit!

Location : Kalikapur. 2 mins from metro cash & carry. Food items ordered : Goat Tumbukiza (soup) - 4/5. Creamy, and quote tasty. Dorowat - 4/5. Barlis - 4.5/5. Had one masala tea as well, which was on the spicier side. Overall, pretty good experience. The taste pallete was quite close to Indian cuisine.

Great ambience. We had Jollof Rice, Potjeikos, Samaki wa Kupaka, and a Baobab fruit shake. The Pot meat stew and Jollof rice combo was mind-blowing. I will definitely visit again.

When I read online that there's a place in Kolkata serving up African delicacies, I had to go check it out. I wasn't disappointed and so won't you.

We went to Flavours of Africa on 9th November 2025 after watching some related reels and the fact that it was located a couple of kilometers from our residence. It was quite empty (for a Sunday) and we got seated right away. Service - ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Ambience - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Coming to the food, I think we had different expectations as to how African food would taste which is the reason for the overall 3/5 rating. >>Mbuzi Tumbukiza (Goat Soup) - 🔥 Loved it, definitely try >> Supu ya Kuku (Chicken soup) - 😕 Skip it , full of peanuts and was more of a peanut soup. >> Samaki wa Kukaanga ( Fried Fish starter) - 🆗 👍 it was quite normal in taste. >>Mbuzi Suya ( Goat Kebabs) - 🆗 👍 Average. >> Jollof rice - 🔥 The rice was actually quite tasty and would love to have it again! >> Nigerian Red chicken stew - 🆗 it was big letdown as we came for this dish. It was bland. lacked any spice imo. >> Apricot and Honey Icecream - 🍦 🍦 It was quite nice. vanilla ic with apricot pieces and honey. We wanted to have the Baobab blondie but it wasn't available nor was the Chigumu!! 😞 ❌ OVERALL - ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Would probably not visit again as many other places to go. But to first timers, it's upto you. NOT a must visit. CHEERS 🥂

Dear Mr. Kalyan, I visited Flavours of Africa tonight (with my family, including my sister from Dubai) based on your good Google ratings, but the experience was deeply disappointing. The service was pathetic, and the overall impression was highly unprofessional. Key Issues: Order Mix-Up/Refusal: Your staff lady suggested two different chicken dishes for our group of 5. Upon serving, a different staff member insisted we only ordered one plate (3 pieces). No Rectification: When we asked for another plate of chicken, we were told, "We don't have." This was around 10 PM. The staff seemed in a massive hurry to close. Food Quality: The chicken was chewy (may be old stock). Missing Ingredient & Mocking Response: The chicken side dish was missing egg. When I asked for your contact number, the server rudely replied, "দাড়ান ডিম সেদ্ধ বসাচ্ছি" (Wait, I am putting on the eggs to boil). This was completely unacceptable. The quality of service and attitude shown tonight is simply not sustainable. I urge you to be more vigilant. If service standards aren't addressed immediately, this venture will face the same fate as previous restaurants in this location (Karims, Enamiah). I expect you to personally look into this matter. Regards, Raktim Basu Avidipta complex

The restaurant was completely empty. No waiting time. Half of things were not available. The fried fish is not crispy at all, just tossed some sauces and served. The staff didn't have the simple understanding that plates are to be switched after having starters. Overall an extremely bad experience, not worth spending a single penny.
