One of the best hidden gems in Kolkata. Went on a Sunday and the place was not very crowded. The manager who is also the owner is a really great guy! Here are the things I ordered. Starters: 1. Prawn Chips - Thin and perfectly Crispy. It tasted good. Perfect for a munch. 4.5/5 2. Chicken Fried Wonton - A decently crispy shell on a dolop of chicken. I wished the amount of filling would have been more. none the less, it was okay. 3.5/5 Main Course: 3. Chicken Fried Rice. 4. Mixed Fried Rice. This was oh-sooo- good. An authentic smokey filling fried rice. Just as you'd expect. This is a must have. Side: Took a plate of Garlic Chicken (half 12 Pcs). It was not spicy at all and very buttery. A nice add-on for people who are not very spice tolerant. Lastly, the fresh lime soda (mixed) was freakin awesome. Very refreshing and it came in a nice beer glass. PS. If you're there, do ask and try the special sweet chilli sause. Wont regret. Overall this place is worth every penny. Will visit again.

Lee Eating House is probably closest to what I remember of Tangra eateries in then Calcutta in the 1980’s. No nonsense seriously good out of the world tasty food, very clean and a very minimalist ambience, albeit with ACs as a concession for the current times. Food is delicious, portion sizes generous and prices are eminently affordable. Try any of their items, but do definitely look at their breakfast items, available all day. Delectable pork wanton steamed noodles (singara chow), pork meatball soup, wantons, these are not to be missed. The other items are equally good. A special shout out for the extremely affable (super friendly) owner, Mr Lee. He is very helpful and courteous beyond measure. A very welcoming person, he makes his guests feel like guests, not just customers. There is parking space on the road in front of the eating house, which is another bonus. Do make it a point to experience this unpublicised gem, take it from me, it’s worth it.

I have dined here since childhood so its more than just a eatery to me. The place is family owned and food is remarkable. Order the Hakka noodles, any chicken or pork recipe, ask them for suggestions and you will never be disappointed. Lovely people trying their best to serve unbeatable authentic indochinese food in the underbelly of Chinatown. Big restaurants lack this personal feeling for me, and if decor and Insta aesthetic is not everything to you and good food is enough, visit once! Crowd is less, waiting time is minimal and food is great! Bang for the buck! Cheers!

The ambience is wonderfully reminiscent of the old school Chinese restaurant settings. It is nice and silent inside. The food is the best Chinese I've had. This is proper chinese food unlike. These items are wonderful: Pork Fried Rice Porn Steamed Wanton Noodles Garlic Prawn Gravy Sweet and Sour Prawn The food is a must! Definitely a hidden gem in Chinatown. The side dishes are on the pricey side but it is absolute Quality!

Though we had come across the mention of Lee Eating House on different YT channels of food bloggers, we wanted to explore for breakfast for quite a while. Finally, yesterday er reached the place around 8:30 a.m. It was open though we were the first customers for the day. The owner was polite, kind and warm. He instantly made us feel welcome. We ordered Chicken Steamed Wontons, chicken and fish meatball soup(non spicy) and Aloo Bora. After eating the steamed Wontons, I realised that I should've probably ordered the fried ones as suggested by other reviewers because I've eaten better steamed Wontons elsewhere. It was just about decent. However the other two dishes were delicious. The chicken and fish meatball soup had two meatballs which tasted great. The soup was light and tasty. The show stopper had to be the Aloo Bora. It had chicken stuffing in the centre coated with smashed potato stuffing fried with the last coating of bread. Each plate had 3 Aloo Boras. They were delectable and filling. I would definitely go back to have them. It's a family run restaurant with the owner and his wife running the place and kitchen both. We met her and complimented her on the food. They keep 1 to 1.5 hrs closed in the afternoon, so it's advisable to give them a call and check before visiting. There's nothing much to talk about the ambiance but it's a clean and simple place which is quite pocket friendly as well. Overall, it was a nice experience and I would definitely recommend it

We were so disappointed with another place in Tangra, we wanted to give Tangra a second chance and landed here. We were the first ones in and expected further disappointment. But no, this place saved reputation of Tangra. Tried the Sui Mai and Baos, both good and unique. Thumbs up

Lee Eating House Located Deep Inside Tangra (China Town) at Matheswar Tolla Road Just Few Metres Away From Beijing Restaurant, is an Authentic Chinese Eatery Serving Variety of Chinese Foods at Regular Prices. The Restaurant Has No Such Decor Outside To Catch Your Eyes But Just Like Another Chinese Eating House Entrance. As You Step Inside, The Huge Spacious Air-Conditioned Seating Area Welcomes You With Quite An Old Vintage Chinese Decor And Wall Hangings Giving You The Feel of an Authenticity. The Hygiene And Cleanliness Can Be Improved Very Particularly Especially Near The Wash Basin. Smiling Mr. Lee Will Welcome You Taking The Orders And Serving Hospitality With Prompt Response. We Went For Dinner And The Place Was Totally Empty May Be Due To Underrating Publicity. They Have Different Types of Sauces And Seasonings On The Table By Default. Coming To Their Menu, They Have a Separate Breakfast Menu Also Which Can Be Available During Lunch And Dinner. The Other Menu Seems Quite Variable With Quite a Lot of Options To Choose We Chose To Order Soup First Which Was Nothing Impressive But Okayish. Next We Moved On For Ordering Some Fried Pork Wontons And Pork Alu Chop With Some High Hopes. The Fried Wontons Were Extremely Crisp And Good But The Size Was Utter Disappointing According To The Price. The Pork Aloo Chop Was Merely Nothing But a Waste of Money. Totally Blunt With Mashed Potato & Pork Fillings Inside Fried Like an Egg Devil. We Then Opted For Chicken Sui Mai Which Was Decent But Can Be Improved in Taste. Next Came The Much Expected, Pork Steamed Wonton Noodles And Chicken Steamed Wonton Noodles With Both Complimentary Soups Provided Aside. The Wonton Noodles Were Very Good With Fresh Pork & Chicken Meat Inside Garnished Thoroughly With Pepper, Bok Choy & Spring Onions. The Enhanced Flavour With The Soup Tasted Really Well. We Also Had One Schezwan Pork Dry Which Was Good Also. The Chutneys And Dips They Gave Were Extremely Enhancing For Flavours. We Had Cold Drinks To Sum Up Our Food Venture Overall, The Food Taste And Quantity Was Not Up to My High Hopes Which I Really Expected From Such Hidden Gems But Hopefully Can Be Improved Considering The Price Range. Taste is a Very Subjective Thing But Would Recommend Everyone To At least Give a Tryout Here !!

Lee Eating House has recently gained attention on social media. I went there around 12 pm for brunch when other places had stopped serving breakfast. I ordered only their specialty items. Steam Wonton Noodle Pork @ Rs.100 (5/5) ------------------------------------------------------- Unlike most places in China Town, the wontons weren't very juicy, but somehow the taste was fabulous. Undoubtedly, one of the best Wonton Noodles I've ever tried. Garlic Noodle Pork @ Rs.150 (3/5) ---------------------------------------------- The noodles were the same but without wontons and with the raw flavor of garlic. As the garlic wasn't fried, some may not like it. Very few pork chunks were present. Roast Chilli Pork Dry @ Rs.340 (Half) (2/5) -------------------------------------------------------- Sorry to say, but the Chilli Pork didn't impress me much. It tasted like Salt & Pepper pork. The pork slices and green chili were deep-fried, which isn't the usual case elsewhere. Usually, pork slices are properly roasted, giving that meatiness, but here it felt like chaat. The portion size was also not great compared to the price. Pricing ------------- Some people on social media have said this place is cheap, but the reality is something else. Only the breakfast items are affordable, ranging from Rs.100-200, but the main courses are as expensive as those in premium China Town restaurants like Big Boss and Beijing. For example, Roast Chilli Pork is priced at Rs.540, and chicken and fish side dishes are priced between Rs.488-600. Breakfast only for me was billed at Rs.620. The owner's behavior is very polite, but that doesn't mean you should pay more. I asked the owner how the prices are so high even without an alcohol license, but he wasn't able to justify. Conclusion ---------------- Go with only Rs.100 in your pocket and try the Wonton Noodles; that is the only thing worth trying here. Don't try anything else, or you'll end up wasting Rs.620 like me.
