Family bonding is the invisible thread that holds hearts together, built not just through big gestures but through the little everyday moments—sharing a meal, laughing over stories, or simply sitting together. Eating with family is not only about food, it’s about feeding the soul with love, care, and togetherness. These small acts—passing someone their favorite dish, listening to each other’s day, or cracking a silly joke—create lasting memories and a sense of belonging. When families spend time together, they nurture trust, strengthen love, and build a support system that makes life’s joys brighter and its struggles easier. In the end, it’s not the grand occasions, but the simple, consistent moments of togetherness that truly define family happiness. So on my Mother's 60th Birthday it was very special day and we wanted to celebrate it cozyly only with us. No extra crowd, no relatives, no friends just US. i choosed Royal Vega as we are Pure vegetarian and my mother avoids non vegetarian restaurants. Royal Vega was perfect place for our family. We ordered Ranjit Khasa Thali which was served in silver Utensils (I guess they were made from Rajasthan seeing the karigari work in it) making everything so Royal as the name is "ROYAL VEGA" They Served: Started serving Papad and Chutney. In Thali they served. Anardana Raita- Which I had for the first time and it was super unique and delicious raita. I was full with so many dishes orelse i could have refilled it again it was so delicious and unique. Madhura Tikiya- made from Beetroot & Hung Curd which again I had for the first time and became my favourite because of flavourful taste. Paneer Khasa- Paneer Sabzi with flavourful spices. Bhare Aloo- this sabzi was good as well. Khoya Mewa Kofta- Okish i had better Kofta tho Maanh (Black Dal)- this dal was decent but nothing beats Dal Bukhara. Mangochi Pakaori (We call it Pakodi ki Kadhi in Rajasthani)- Okish they can make it better. Pithi Poori- The crisp in Poori was amazing I loved this Poori. Khus Khus Sauf Roti- Unique tasteful saif roti i had the chance to taste it for first time. Naan- They also served their signature Naan additionally in the thali which was good as usual. Mungoti Mutter pulao- Decent taste. and Ended with Desert Atta Gond Halwa- Generally i avoid Atta Halwa but this was super delish that I had to take it second time. the flavour of Gond, Ghee, Badam was prominent which made it super delicious. Kesari Angoori Laklaki- Good Tate. Overall Experience was 10/10 The staff was courteous and served us gracefully. The Food was super delicious and served in royal way. Will visit again to Taste other Thali as well. Thank you Royal Vega it was worth Paying the price for Experience and Food.

This place is perfect for seasonal vegetarian thalis, we tried the Vasant Ritu khasa a royal Rajasthani thali with sessional spring dishes. 2000+ INR per thali. I really loved the way it was presented from the sweet pistachio churma to halwa. It starts with pistachio churma, a sweet, sour and spicy drink followed by chutney and pachak. Mirchi vada as a starter that tastes amazing with the green chutney, followed by dal, tossed asparagus with nuts, dum aloo, Mawa paneer, handmade paneer rolls stuffed with mewa and dry fruits cooked in a poppy seed based gravy, dry fruits stuffed kofta and gatte ki sabzi and with all these delicious curries comes 3 authentic Rajasthani parathas and raw jack fruit polau. . The ambience was as royal as a palace..

While people get overwhelmed by the decor, ambience, service and other peripheral things, food taste is of paramount importance and if someone is spending such a huge amount, expectations are always to have that aha moment. 2 Thalis we tried, one north and other rajasthani North thali - Kofta, was sweet, paneer was sweet, dal makhni and kadhi, okay in taste + some rotis and other things Rajasthani thali - It had matar, gobhi, jeera aalo along with some mix veg and arhar dal. Not sure from which angle it was rajasthani One portion of dal and bati was served, but no churma, no lahsun chutney One 1 starter in each thali Only 2 pre defined sweet dish and no option to have ice cream or something In short, the whole menu along with the food items and taste needs to be updated. Not sure who has designed the menu as it is absolutely not worth the experience. Note : I am from Delhi and can vouch 200% on much better places in NCR with better food quality, taste, menu options at half the price.

My review is purely based on food taste and not on decor or service, which are expected from a typical luxury dining. There are 4 options of Thalis - had ordered the 1st and 3rd option for my family, sorting the menus from the low cost option. Please note, we are a Bengali vegetarian family and have tasted vegetarian menus (even with no onion no garlic) across top restaurants. Forget comparing with other restaurants, I should have rather celebrated this special day with home cooked food, rather than wasting my time and appetite overhere. It seemed the chef knows only to use curd/dahi in most of the foods and all seemed to taste same and blant. Even for the deserts, only 2 items were provided - in the rasmalai, you won't be able to find the solid part of it (since its so small) and the halwa was little better, but not that much as that of other places. The only seemed decent, was butter naan. However, the bread options are also limited. Food taste is an individual preference and you may like the food. But, I guarantee, you will get much better vegetarian food (even with no onion no garlic items) in multiple places at Kolkata. Again, pls note, my review is solely based on food taste and nothing else - but, if you do not get food with decent taste, it will spoil your special day, for sure.
