Sei Vui offers a mild yet tasteful ambience that sets the perfect tone for a relaxed dining experience. The food truly exceeded expectations. While I don’t usually go for crispy pork, the crispy fried garlic pepper pork was a delightful surprise – full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The Cantonese noodles were rich and satisfying, especially with the savory gravy. However, the true stars of the meal were the soft, succulent chilli pork and the hot garlic fish – both packed with bold flavors and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are generous, making it great value for money. Definitely planning to visit again

We had ordered Drums of heaven, Fried Chicken wonton, Chicken lat me kai, Cantonese noodles, Fried rice with burnt garlic and kung pao chicken. Lat me kai and Cantonese noodles was the showstopper. Had the mala pork and five star pork along with mixed burnt garlic noodles. All the preparations were top notch and extremely price friendly. One of the better Chinese eateries in Kolkata.

Sei Vui is a Cozy Asian Culinary Stop in Central Kolkata Location : Poddar Court, opposite Telephone Exchange Recently, we dropped by Sei Vui, a quiet little spot tucked in the heart of the city, and were pleasantly surprised by their variety of Asian dishes. Steamed Chicken Wonton - ₹230/- This dish came with 10 delicate wontons served in a clear spinach-infused broth and accompanied by a dipping sauce. The wontons were tender, juicy, and had a subtle, savory chicken flavor that balanced well with the freshness of the spinach. Special Vietnamese Rice Paper Chicken Roll - ₹250/- These rice paper rolls were visually appealing and generously stuffed with veggies and shredded chicken. The sweetness of the filling stood out, giving it a refreshing, mildly tangy flavor typical of Vietnamese cuisine. However, the rolls were served at room temperature. Egg Nasi Goreng Fried Rice - ₹230/- This Indonesian-style fried rice was rich in umami, slightly sweet and spicy, and had a distinct smoky flavor. The eggs were well incorporated, and the seasoning was on point. A delicious and hearty dish, and the portion size was enough for two people. Egg Chilli Basil Fried Rice - ₹220/- This variation had a milder flavor profile compared to the Nasi Goreng. The chilli and basil notes were present but not bold, making it feel a bit bland in comparison. While not bad, it lacked the punch you might expect from a Thai-style basil fried rice. Still, a decent option for those preferring a milder dish. Tausi Chicken - ₹280/- Served with 8 pieces of chicken, this side dish had a well-balanced flavor. The chicken was succulent, coated in a savory tausi sauce that was rich, slightly salty, and deeply flavorful. A great complement to both rice dishes, especially the milder Egg Chilli Basil Fried Rice. A good place for trying Asian-inspired dishes at reasonable prices. The portions are generous, flavors mostly hit the mark, and the service is quick.

The Pork Lat me kai is full of flavours and absolutely my favourite! Those who love spicy and sweet-tangy flavours can try this blindly. I have also tried their pork steamed wanton (juicy), crispy garlic pepper chicken(tangy & spicy), fried wanton. Foods are good in quality and quantity is also sufficient according to the price. ✌🏽

Visited Sei Vui Restaurant on the last day of October with two friends. This old and reputed Chinese eatery located at 17, Blackburn Lane, Central Kolkata still carries its vintage Chinatown charm. What we ordered: Butterfly Prawns (₹420, 8 pcs): Absolutely delicious. Perfectly crisp, shaped like butterflies, and full of flavour. Definitely the highlight of our meal. Vietnamese Rice Paper Roll Chicken (₹260, 6 pcs): Tasty and refreshing, though slightly on the sweeter side for my palate. Mixed Chow Mei Foon (₹340): Huge portion size, easily enough for three people. Taste was average but not disappointing. Mala Schezwan Chicken (₹290, 8 pcs): Sadly, this one missed the mark. The gravy was thick and dominated by black pepper and chilli, lacking depth and flavour balance. Ambience and service: The ambience is simple, calm, and comfortable. Nothing extravagant, but pleasantly inviting. We reached around 9:45 PM, and the staff mentioned that the last order is at 10:15 PM. Service was friendly and efficient. Note: The prices listed on Zomato are outdated, so expect an increase of ₹20–₹30 per item. Half plate options are no longer available, even though older menus online show them. When asked, the waiter mentioned they don’t serve half portions anymore, unsure whether it was because we went late or if it is a permanent change. Overall: A decent experience with good food in parts, generous portions, courteous staff, and that old-school Chinese restaurant feel that still makes Sei Vui a pleasant stop in central Kolkata.

I went out with my friend to try Chinese food at this popular restaurant. We tried the famous steamed chicken wontons. The coating was made probably made with wheat flour and the filling was so less, that it almost had no taste even after dipping it with sauce and vinegar. Though the quantity was sufficient and the price was cheap, we decided not to try more items from this place and left this place. Not worth the hype!!!

We ordered the Pork Moon Kao and Chicken Hokkien Chowmein. The vegetables in both the dishes were raw and not cooked properly. The Moon Kao was very bland as if they forgot to put soy sauce. The Hokkien Chowmein was oily at the bottom of the serving bowl. This was the worst experience. I will never be going to the restaurant again nor recommending it to anyone ever.
