It was a Monday evening, and after a long work day, I was craving something authentically Maharashtrian, something that felt like home. My friend and I didn’t waste a second. We headed straight to Aaswad. I had heard a lot of praise about this place, and the lively, welcoming atmosphere that greeted us did not disappoint. The moment we stepped in, it felt like home. The vibe was cozy, with a touch of Maharashtrian charm. We skimmed through the menu, and I went for Sabudana Wada while my friend ordered Misal Pav. Both dishes were packed with flavors and tasted like they had that authentic, homemade touch. And the ambiance? It was warm and inviting with a hint of elegance. Quality - 4.8/5 Quantity - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Price - 200 INR for 2 people For more mouthwatering food content, don't forget to follow @chefvaidehipathare on Instagram!

When you are in Dadar you must visit Aaswad for authentic misal, vada pav, thalipeeth and many other classic maharashtrian dishes. Authentic maharashtrian cuisine for anytime of day. The place is amazing and value for money. This is your destination. The seating arrangements are spacious, relaxed dining experience. The attentive staff is always ready to assist you with their warm and friendly service. We had the below- Thalipeeth - 10/10 Vada - 10/10 Misal pav- 10/10 must try

Aaswad is a popular place serving some good Maharashtrian dishes that probably are lesser known so I walked right in after my long walk.  Thankfully it was air conditioned so I could relax myself after quickly ordering what I wanted to try.  A portion of misal and pav, along with a Thalipith, a traditional Maharashtrian flatbread.  The misal was very good, especially with the pav bun, it was mildly spicy and well made. The Thalipith or thalipeeth is usually made with a combination of flours, called the bhajanee and is also seasoned with spices.  My first time trying this one, it reminded me of a more dense adai with a firmness of a masala vadai, yet the flavours and texture was very different from what I am used to.  I liked it, and I would have liked it even more if this wasn't my second breakfast.  It was served with a mild sweet curd like thin yellow sauce, with a dollop of white butter on top.  It tasted a bit burnt but it was not, probably, it actually was good as it is, and for a change in flavour I dipped into the sauce, which made it mildly sweet. The filter coffee was decent, not as great as you would get down south, but a good version.  This place has two floor seating and was a very nice place to dine in, especially for breakfast.  Do try them out and share your experience.

When a Maharastrian place makes a misal which is a cross between a usual and amti then you know you are at the wrong place. The pav was chewy and stale, the chutney was the only saving grace. Came here with a lot of hope leaving disappointed and dissatisfied. However Sagar is a awesome person who is a brilliant and charming waiter.

Restaurant closing time mentioned on google is 10.30pm. Before visiting we had called up on landline number but no one had responded to call. We reached at 10.15pm but the person & other staff who took reservations refused to accept our name & spoke to us very rudely. They have forgotten that business exists because of customer. Staff on entrance were talking to us very arrogantly. “We do not care, you can talk to our manager”, were his words. We have been visiting this restaurant since many years but we have never faced a bad experience like this. I am sure this will impact their business.v

Disappointed with quality and taste of food. Went there after reading so many good reviews. Firstly the wait time was 30 mins on a weekday afternoon. So many elderly people waiting in the hot sun and no arrangements for waiting customers. It was not worth the hype and food is overrated. Misal was bland and no spice et all. Kothimbirwadi was only besan and no kothimbir. Thalipeeth was a small hard disc.
