A lovely solo dining experience. With a menu that makes you wish you could try everything on it, Otoki is the place in the city to try Japanese food. Started off with a Kirin Ichiban beer. The host, Nishant, sensing my confusion, was only too eager to help me choose what to order. We settled on the yuzu hamachi, crab tartar gunkan, and hotate nigiri. It started with a japanese version of amuse bouche, otoshi. After each dish I tried, my server rahil, would follow up to get my review on it, and then proceed to inform me about the ingredients and method used to formulate the dish. The crab gunkan was a burst of flavours, the yuzu pannacotta paired really well with the yellow tail, and the hotate nigiri tasted very clean. Rahil also made me try two different brands of sake, and a sesame broth with blanched spinach, which had a lovely smokey and salty flavour. For dessert I had gone with the warabi mochi, and was surprised instead with two more desserts, the shisho panna cotta and a sorbet tres leches. The honeycomb, chantilly cream, and the sprinkle of salt in the mango and strawberry mochi was the perfect mix of flavours and textures. The shisho panna cotta had the nostalgic taste of an orange creamsicle in the best way possible. And the sorbet was so refreshing. Another small sample I got to try was sesame crackers, which were the right amount of sweet and toasted. Rahil was very attentive, informed, and a great conversationalist. His enthusiasm to talk about food is infectious. I had a lovely time indulging in great food and delightful conversation. Looking forward to making a second visit soon. *Please excuse the poor quality photos, they don't do the food justice.

Otoki is the kind of place that doesn’t shout for attention—it earns it. From the very first sip, their cocktails set the tone: beautifully balanced, confident, and bang on without gimmicks. Each drink feels thoughtfully composed, letting Japanese ingredients speak with restraint and clarity. The food follows the same philosophy. The Chicken Nanban arrived crisp and indulgent, perfectly coated and deeply comforting—an instant favourite. The Prawns Tempura Maki was finesse at its finest: light, delicate, and quite literally melting in the mouth, with every bite showing technical precision. The Chicken Shio Tare Yaki Soba was soulful and addictive—slick noodles, clean umami, and flavours that felt both indulgent and authentic. But the true showstopper, the dish that steals the spotlight and refuses to give it back, was the Butter Garlic Crab Donburi. Rich, aromatic, and unapologetically luxurious, it was layered with depth yet beautifully restrained—comfort food elevated to a statement. Otoki succeeds because it respects tradition while delivering pleasure. Authentic flavours, exceptional cocktails, and dishes that linger in memory long after the last bite—this is Japanese dining done with quiet confidence and absolute finesse.

Otoki in Colaba, Mumbai is a calm Japanese izakaya that feels like a peaceful escape. Owners Anurag Katriar and Pranav Rungta created this spot with Chef Mohit Singh, who trained in Michelin-star kitchens in Japan. The ambiance is elegant and minimalist with Kyoto-style warmth – perfect for relaxing chats. Service is excellent, friendly, and attentive. The place offers fresh, authentic Japanese small plates in a historic Colaba building. Must-try dishes: crispy Ebi Okonomiyaki (we tried the veg version and it was yum ) Skipped the Sushi and went for Gunkan , one was the vegetarian and other other was crap which was nice. Followed it will Nasu DENGAKU ( brinjal stuffed which had umami flavours ) YAZU HAMACHI is a must try as well. Lovely platting. Do their the Chawan mushi ( japanese custard Savoury) Highlight for the vegetarians is the Simmered Lotus stem called Renkon Kimpira One mains in chicken . Their cocktails need a praise ( classic as well as the sake based ) Ended with the Japanese dessert Overall this place is a must try Do indulge Till we meet again Cheers

The food and presentation was brilliant. Loved the complimentary appetiser served at the start. Highlights were: Portobello Sando Miso veg ramen Overall very tasty food and the staff especially Rahil was very sweet and ensured we had a great meal. He also served us a complimentary lemon sorbet which felt refreshing. Must visit this place, honestly would give it a 10/10.

The staff was polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Ambience was calm and very Japanese in feel. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Japanese cuisine.

Had the best lunch at Otuki. Drinks Starters Entree to Dessert everything was amazingly tasty but my favorite were the Chicken Sabo Noodles and the Salty Soup Ramen both from their specials menu. Service by Rahil was attentive yet not intrusive. We enjoyed our meal

Review for Otoki, Mumbai We had an extremely disappointing and concerning experience at Otoki. My friend and wife are both highly allergic to mushrooms, and we made it very clear to the server that we did not want mushrooms in our order. Despite this, the noodles we were served contained enoki mushrooms, which are thin and hard to spot. Unfortunately, both of them ate the dish before realizing what had happened — a serious and dangerous mistake on the restaurant’s part. When we brought this to the manager’s attention, he handled the situation terribly. Instead of understanding the gravity of a mushroom allergy, he casually claimed he was “doing us a favor” by removing the item from the bill. There was no genuine concern, no apology, and no acknowledgment of how serious an allergic reaction could have been. To make matters worse, the bill still included a service charge. This is not just bad service — it’s a complete lack of awareness and responsibility toward guest safety. For a restaurant of Otoki’s standard, this level of negligence is unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone with dietary restrictions or allergies before dining here.

We ordered the noodles specifically without mushrooms as my friend is very, very allergic. Halfway through the meal, we realised there were loads of the enoki mushrooms (very easily camouflaged with the noodles). the manager didn't bother to come to apologise or acknowledge. We had to ask for him and make them realize how serious the issue was.
