The best South Indian dive I've been to in Mumbai. Period. Crisp yet succulent dosa, with a brilliant slushy potato based filling (palya); the idlis have incredible texture and softness; the bisibele bhaat is the closest to a Bengali khichuri; and the rasam vade, is exquisitely tempered. This place is a couple of notches above any joint around King's Circle, Matunga (though the filter coffee at Amba Bhavan and Sarada Bhavan is better). If you already haven't, drop in at the Poornima Fort outlet, next to Bombay House. You'll keep going back.

South Indian food is always the safe, tasty, n healthy bet when it comes to food options. This place has limited options but really good to taste. Do not judge the place by the lane which it is in. The place is clean, staff is good, food is warm/tasty/quick/hygienic/satisfying, well priced. Try it!

Poornima is right outside my office in Lower Parel. Its often listed among best places for south indian food in mumbai. They have some specialities such as dahi wada, dahi bhat, and basil bhath. I mostly love everything they make. Even regular masala dosa is always served and tastes prefect here. They dont serve dosas during lunch time which is 1 pm to 2 pm. Rest all times, they make and serve dosas. Also they have a special menu everyday. You gotta check that too. The best thing about this place is its Hygeinic and clean. It's a very small place but the way they maintain cleanliness is impressive. Also, its very pocket friendly. Almost everyone cam afford to eat here amazing south indian food. A must visit when you are in this area. It's bustling with office crowd oftentimes, especially during lunch hours.

It is one of those quaint places that only foodies and localities know of. Poornima is an unassuming restaurant in a lane close to BSE. Some of the dishes continue to change and others remain constant. They offer delectable and authentic South Indian food. Their podi idli was the best and I also liked the neer dosa. Thankfully, the sambar doesn’t taste like a regular Mumbai sambar (which is sweetened). Avoid ordering dry poha. I ordered it and the first spoonful tasted like I just ate torn pieces of paper. Anyway that shouldn’t take away the glory of this restaurant. Go go go!

A basic & prompt to serve Udupi restaurant. Poornima is a godsend if you know the difference between sambaar & samber. Decent portions, a great menu & excellent hygiene in pandemic times. Go for the old school menu, stay for the satisfaction that lies in getting simple things right through the ages!

This place I'd famous for South Indian food. The taste was amazing. Also, prompt and timely service. It's a self service. They have proper hygiene and service facilities. For food 5/5. Must visit place.

Have been visiting this place for a while and have tried out a few items off their menu. To start with Poornima is a really small outlet with barely 4 table and can accomodate about 16 people max. At the entry once you place the order and pay for it, you have to collect the token and give it to the guy at the kitchen. On our 1st visit, since we were unaware of the system we waited for a good 20mins and wondered what took the restaurant so much time to make a simple onion uttapam? It was only after being asked why it tookso much did the guy at the cash counter rudely tell us that we had to give the coupon at the kitchen counter for them to prepare it. On our numerous visits, we tried out Onion Uttapam, Onion Rava Dosa, Rassam Vada, Upma and Bissebele Bhaat. Tastewise, the Onion Rava or the Sada Rava Dosa are good, crisp, less oily and taste really good with the sambar. However, this time found the onion slightly burnt in the dosa. The onion uttapam is nice hot slightly crispy on the outside but nice a soft on the inside. The rassam vada was disappointing and lacked that flavourful punch that a typical rassam would have. Was low on salt too. The upma was good to taste but very very greasy. Bissebel Bhaat was good and is served with crisps and is good to taste. However felt that the quantity is a lesser for the amount charged. Overall, its a decent place for a quick south Indian breakfast, unless you are ordering an onion uttapam or Rava dosa which takes a minimum 10-15mins to come out of the kitchen

I had a mysore masala dosa. The red chutney was stale and so was the oil used. Coffee was served in a paper cup and so when i requested for a steel or glass one, the server bluntly refused despite the cashiers request as well over priced place for the quality they serve.
