Excellent preparation. Automatic Bengali Mach preparation. Mustard marinated hilsa was superb. Prawns gravy was also good. Jaggery syrup rosogulla was icing on the cake. πŸ‘

This branch of Bijoli Grill is located inside Banga Bhawan premise. The ambience is decent. It is not like a canteen but a full fledged restaurant..But yes it doesn't meet up the requirements of a fancy fine dining from an atmosphere perspective. For food we had Aam Porar Shorbot, Fish Fry, Mutton Jhol, Rice, Luchi and Tak Dal. Taste of food was superb. I rarely rate 5 on any parameter but on taste I give it a 5 on 5. You do experience authentic Bengali flavour. Mutton was extremely tender. Fish fry coating was subtle and hence you could enjoy the actual flavour of the fish instead of the coating dominating the taste buds. Service was ok. On my previous visit I had found it to be slow but this time we saw improvement.

I don't why this restaurant got so low rating, even though it is my default choice if i have Bengali food cravings. Service takes time that's the only negative but if you visit state canteens and Indian Coffee House you know how these govt setups work. But food is always great. If you are veg you should try radhabllavi and dum aloo combo, shukto, begun bhaja and for non veg it mutton kosha, Biryani and fish dishes. Again this not for the people who need Instagram pics or viral food. This place is for simple people and simple food

Quick summary - lovely food, disastrous service. We knew the state canteens would have a long wait, so we weren't very put off by the 40 minute wait. What really pissed us off was the 1 hour wait post being seated for our food, only to realise that our order hasn't been taken properly. Their bhetki paturi is incredible however, and an absolute must try. I wish I'd have been able to try their baigan fry as well, but luck wasn't on our side. Food is definitely cheaper than other places, but still pricey for me considering our overall experience.

Food has a bland taste and is too costly. Instead go to CR Park or order online

I had visited this place in 2014 and food, ambience and service was bad then and was bad again today after 11 years. There are much better places to go for Bengali food
