Some Restaurants Make You Want To Leave. Grammie Makes You Want To Stay. There is a certain kind of restaurant that understands something most restaurateurs never quite grasp: that the best meals are never really about the food alone. They are about the afternoon that bleeds into evening, the second drink you hadn't planned on ordering, the conversation that keeps pulling you back into your chair just as you've reached for your jacket. These restaurants are rare. And in my experience, they are almost never the result of accident. Grammie, the newest venture from Chef Tanveer Kwatra — the man behind two of Goa's more interesting dining addresses, Neighbors and Tataki, and a delivery brand called Shoyu that has its own loyal following — is very deliberately that kind of place. Its philosophy is stated with disarming simplicity: Stay Awhile. Linger Longer. It sounds like the sort of thing that gets printed on a cushion cover. Except that here, they actually mean it. Kwatra's vision for Grammie, as I understand it, was to build a gathering place rather than a dining room. There is a meaningful difference. A dining room asks something of you — it imposes a certain rhythm, a certain formality, a certain expectation that you will eat, pay, and make way. A gathering place, on the other hand, is built around the idea that you belong there, that time is not the enemy, that the table is yours for as long as you want it. Grammie, to its considerable credit, pulls this off. The space itself is worth discussing. The Candy Room has a playful, almost theatrical quality that doesn't tip over into gimmickry. The Lounge Area is exactly what it promises — a place to settle in rather than perch. The Community Table, I suspect, will become one of those Delhi fixtures that people arrange their plans around. And then there is the Live Gelato Station, which I will come back to, because it deserves its own paragraph. The bar — lit by an LED installation that manages to be striking without being exhausting — is anchored by Beverage Head Ashwin Sanotra, who, I am pleased to report, takes his cocktails seriously. All the paintings on the walls are from Rohit Chawla, and they give the space a considered, curated feel that doesn't announce itself too loudly. The cuisine is described as Wafu-Italian — a fusion philosophy that could go very wrong in the wrong hands. In lesser restaurants, this sort of cross-cultural ambition produces confusion dressed up as creativity. Here, under the watchful eyes of Chef Konark Sharma, who serves as Corporate Culinary Director and articulates a clear belief in ingredient-forward cooking that lets seasonal produce do the heavy lifting, it works considerably better than it has any right to. I began with the cold plates. The Salmon Carpaccio — dressed with warm brown butter, enoki mushrooms, and citrus ponzu — had that pleasing tension between the richness of the butter and the brightness of the ponzu that good Japanese-inflected cooking manages so well. The Crudo of Hamachi, with its spicy green vinaigrette and nori oil, was clean and precise, the kind of dish that reminds you how much confidence it takes to do very little. The Chilled Sweetcorn Mousse with granola, tomatoes, and puffed red rice was the most unexpected plate on the table and, in many ways, the most interesting — a study in texture that rewarded attention. The ArangirI — a portmanteau of Arancini and Nigiri that sounds like a joke but isn't — arrived as crispy rice with panko crumbs, sashimi, and accompanying sauces, and was exactly the sort of thing that makes you understand why chefs bother with cross-cultural cooking at all. From the fire grill, the Barbecue Sweet Potato with cannellini and borlotti beans and herbs was generous and grounding, the kind of dish that makes you rethink how seriously you take vegetables. Now, about those cocktails. Sanotra sent out a Mandarin & Jalapeño — a margarita-style drink built on kokum-infused Patrón Silver, with mandarin, celery, jalapeño, and citrus — that had a slow, building heat and a freshness I didn't expect. The Lychee & Sesame, made sour-style with 1800 Blanco Tequila, lychee, sesame, and coconut whip, was more flamboyant and entirely earned its flourish. And then there was the gelato. The Live Gelato Station produced a Pistachio Gelato that was one of those small, uncomplicated pleasures that stay with you long after the more ambitious dishes have faded from memory. Paired with a Pistachio Tiramisu that had its own quiet confidence, it was the kind of ending a meal like this deserved — not showy, just right. A live jazz band played through it all, and I will admit that I had been mildly sceptical about this detail when I arrived. Live music in restaurants tends to either overwhelm the food or apologize for it. Here, it simply accompanied everything — unhurried, unforced, very much in the spirit of the place. Delhi's F&B scene is crowded with ambition and occasionally short on follow-through. Grammie is a serious addition — thoughtful in concept, executed with enough skill to justify the vision. Whether it becomes the kind of place that rewires your social life around it will depend on whether it can sustain this quality through the noise and volume that success in this city inevitably brings. On the evidence of one long, unhurried afternoon that stretched well beyond where I had planned, I am inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt. The only rule, they say, is be kind. On balance, I think they've earned it.

Grammie – A delightful new find Had a really good experience at Grammie. For a newly opened place, everything felt surprisingly well put together. The food was great — fresh, well-presented, and full of flavour. The drinks were equally impressive, nicely balanced and well crafted. The music set the mood perfectly without being too loud or distracting. The ambience was warm and inviting, making it a comfortable place to sit back and enjoy the evening. The location is excellent and easy to reach. And lastly, the service was great — attentive, polite, and smooth. Overall, a solid experience and definitely a place worth visiting again. Looking forward to seeing Grammie grow.

Celebrated Mother’s Day with family at Grammie, and it was a delightful choice! The ambiance felt warm and inviting, perfect for a special family gathering with soft lighting and comfortable seating. Our server, Mrityunjay was a good host, very kind and polite. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and to top it off they gave complimentary dessert and a very cute house plant which made the evening more special.

Grammie in Delhi brought together a beautiful mix of Italian and Asian flavours—fresh breads, delicate dips, handmade noodles, and comforting pastas. Simple, thoughtful food that lets ingredients shine, best enjoyed over slow conversations and shared plates.
