Best dinner experience. Loved every bit of the food specially the jumbo prawn in green mango curry with appam was lip smacking. Arvind, his service and suggestions were top notch. Can't thank him enough to make my parent's anniversary dinner so great!

Delish! Each dish was 😀 we had the appam with mango prawn curry and the sea food platter which quenched all our sea food needs! Really really good! Mojito was good as well! Against initial expectations

1) v.breezy and hence what a relief in humid weather of pondi. 2) excellent master chef, USA style steak 3) courteous staff 4) prompt service.

The sea food soup was fabulous, and so was the Mahe koondala masala with a lovely mango and coconut paste. My friends had a honey chicken with paprika some found this spicy, but I can't comment on it as I did not eat it they also had the sumac prawns well plated and nice. I saw another table being served two huge scoops of Gelato. When we ordered it, we got two tiny balls I commented to the the waiter why we were getting different portions? We had ordered 3 portions but only received 1 proper portion. This place is filled with foreigners, and I truly feel the service is different to us Indians.

The place is great for a cocktail bar. You get a wide variety of coacktails across an impressive range of spirits but that’s where it ends. Their food menu on the other hand is complete opposite and offers almost little to no variety. We did not like the taste of the food a bit, the calamari was extremely chewy and very spicy, even though we asked for medium heat. We ordered Chicken Fricasse, and for the first time in my life we were treated with a continental chicken dish which had bones. Instead of using a breast, they used simple leg pieces, which also had a slight smell. Needless to say, it was not a great experience and we left shortly after. Pros: Location, Rooftop Ambience, Cocktails Cons: Food

Please read this review before you walk in to this horrendous place. Have stayed here 10s of times with my partner and have clearly enjoyed our stay most of the times. We couldn’t get the reservations this time as we planned the trip last minute. So we booked our stay at another place but myself and partner still thought we’d take both our moms at least for a nice dinner to show them the place around and called the restaurant to make reservations. They replied saying they weren’t taking any reservations because the tables were all empty and that we could walk in anytime. So we walked in to the hotel in the next 10 mins. There was a person, probably a waiter or someone who looked very confused upon our arrival. He gave a weird glance looking at both our moms, they were both wearing Indian attire, I don’t know if this made them look at them a certain disrespectful way, but that’s clearly how it looked, super super disrespectful! I told him I’d called and only then walked in. He said the tables are all full and that we could check upstairs on the 2nd floor again to confirm this. Again on the second floor the tables were completely empty and so I asked someone who seemed to be in charge that I’d called enquiring a table for 4 for dinner and if we could take one of the tables. He too made a very weird disrespectful face and showed empty hands (implying he doesn’t know, arrogantly, he didn’t even open his mouth for a yes or a no) I got really pissed as myself and partner walked 10 mins from our hotel to this place with 2 elderly women (our moms) just for them to experience dinner at palais de mahe. I explained how I spoke on call for half a minute, showed them my call log and told that the person who attended the call clearly told us to walk in as the tables were supposedly empty. Again, this person gave a disrespectful glance, not even an apology or explanation of any sort, he kept walking away from us! My partner got super angry at how someone could treat a guest this way and asked how he can not even give an explanation, a word or apology for we’ve walked in with elderly people after clearly asking if we could walk in over the phone. Is this the way to treat any guest, elderly people or a human for that matter for no fault of theirs? Do your guests not deserve an explanation or even a yes/no from your side after you mess up their night? This is the most decent way I could put up a review for the most atrocious, disrespectful staff handling palais de mahe because not everyone could be as cheap as them even if they try to. I am still in shock and anger on how they handled us. What should I call the staff of this hotel? Racist? Disrespectful? Arrogant? Inhuman? ALL OF THE ABOVE. P.s - We all know your food sucks, we only decided to walk in for the ambience. Guess what? Our night ended up at TANTO’s in Auroville and it was much much better. So I guess everything happens for a reason! *Middle finger to the person who disrespected our family, especially our moms. If I was your employer I’d fire you!*

When I got the bill, the steward didn’t tell me that don’t accept online payment. After I made the payment they said please cancel payment and pay by cash. Cancelling an online payment is a hassle in itself, which would have taken over an hour. The food was good but very limited options, bar options were a lot. the over all experience went very bad because of the hassle due to online bill payment. I suggest carry cash. After leaving the restaurant we got a call that they made a mistake and the total was wrong. They asked us to pay the balance amount later.
