🎬 Thol Talkies — Performance Film Screening by Uru Paanar

Thol Talkies is the performance film by Uru Paanar, a contemporary Tamil music collective reviving lost and forgotten sounds from South India.

The 60-minute film journeys through landscapes of sound, memory, and belonging — blending performance, instrument reconstruction, and poetic storytelling drawn from Tolkāppiyam, Tamil literature’s earliest known text on grammar, linguistics, and culture.

These ideas culminate in THOL, the band’s debut album — a sonic exploration of Tamil antiquity and its resonances today.
