Chinmayi and Joel
An award winning singer- composer and poet- Chinmayi Tripathi and veteran singer-composer and multi-instrumentalist – Joell Mukherjii started Kavyaraag (A music and poetry project) about 7 years ago through a crowdfunding campaign, with the objective of creating a bridge between Hindi poetry and contemporary music for young listeners.
Over the last few years Kavyaraag has become the biggest movement that combines eclectic music with poetry and has produced and performed hundreds of songs based on classical and contemporary Hindi-Urdu poetry- varying between the poetry of Mahadevi Verma, Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala', Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar', Harivansh Rai 'Bachchan', Shivmangal Singh 'Suman', Dharamvir Bharti, Urdu poetry of 'Faiz', 'Firaq' Nida Fazli and Paveen Shakir and also the timeless classics of Bulle Shah, Meera, Kabir, Amir Khusrau and new age poetry by the stalwarts such as Anamika, Vinod Kumar Shukla, Naresh Saxena, Sarveshwar Dayal Saxena to name a few.
