About the Event

Ashariravāni is a triple bill evening featuring Ryu Suzuki from Dance Base Yokohama, Japan and Hemabharathy Palani from Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bangalore. The performances will focus on the effects of the Pandemic, portraying it as a springboard for creativity and connection rather than dwelling on its negative outcomes. Ashariravāni will feature “never thought it would” a solo by Ryu Suzuki, “-scape” a solo by Hemabharathy Palani developed collaboratively with Ryu, and “Interlude” a duet featuring both dancers.

The two dancers haven’t even shook hands yet and will meet in-person for the first time after collaborating online, we have the chance to witness this long-awaited meeting. Come be part of a sensual evening of bodies speaking, listening, sharing and above all inspiring us with an immersive out of the ordinary experience. Ashareeravāni is a co-production between the Japan Foundation New Delhi and Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts.
