About the Event

How do you decide if a photograph is good or not? Have you ever thought about why you love certain photos and dislike others? Why do some pictures look artistic and others not? What does your decision-making process look like?

Learning how to use your camera properly is one thing. Training your eye to see and appreciate photographs is quite another. The greatest of all news is that you can learn this skill, and you won't need any fancy cameras. In fact, your smartphone is all you will require.

Your smartphone is the simplest tool to record, and share your stories, art, and thoughts with the world instantly.

Smartphones turn every person into fine-art and documentary photographers. But few pursue, develop, and enjoy this hobby to its fullest. Have you considered curating your smartphone photos into exhibitions and books? Print your pictures on tee shirts, cushions, coffee mugs, or plates?

My 3-hour-long LIVE photography workshop via Zoom will change the way you think about photography. You will learn what makes a good picture; the subject, the message, the lighting, and bring in each of these elements into your pictures. Your pictures will talk to every person who sees them.

This workshop is 0% technical, 100% practical. You will click, edit, and share pictures throughout the workshop and receive live feedback from me. This live feedback will help you to improve your pictures on the go!

Who is eligible for this workshop?

This workshop is designed for people above the age of 13. You can be living anywhere in the world, in any timezone.

Who will benefit from this workshop?

Photography is used in every field of work. Students who learn this technique will be able to click high impact photos for their academic work. Corporate employees will find this a fun session for team building, de-stressing, and improving interpersonal relationships through meaningful interactions during the session. Families can do it together as a fun group activity.

Smartphone camera settings, camera app settings, how to click selfies, how to airbrush portraits, how to manipulate photos (add/erase things).

About Girish Menon

Uncle Philip gifted me a Canon AE-1P camera on my seventeenth birthday.

I immediately loaded the camera and started clicking anything and everything in sight. But when the photos were developed they were either too bright or too dark or out of focus.

That’s when I realised I needed to take a course in photography to learn the basic skills of taking good pictures.

I turned to a renowned photographer and signed on for a one year private class and it was a game changer.

During this course, I started shooting amazing professional pictures, getting them published in various magazines... and getting paid for it!

I then decided to share my new knowledge with budding photo enthusiasts so they too could experience what I was taught.

So in 2007, I started teaching photography workshops at various venues in Mumbai. Since then I have had the opportunity to teach photography to over 15,000 individuals between the ages of 8 and 85.

I was the visiting faculty for photography at SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai, where I taught “Lighting and digital photography” to first and second year BSc. Home Science students.

I have facilitated photography workshops and seminars at schools and colleges such as American School of Bombay, VIBGYOR (Mumbai and Pune), Witty International School, Bishop's School Pune, IIT of Bombay and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, S.M. Shetty College and Anna Leela College in Mumbai, and for organisations such as ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), and NABARD etc.
