Bangalore’s food scene has no shortage of biryani joints, but Bong Biryani stands out for its unapologetically Bengali soul. This isn’t just another plate of rice and meat—it’s a celebration of tradition, flavor, and generosity. The Biryani The star of the show is, of course, the biryani. What impressed me most was the hearty portion size and the generous cuts of meat—a rarity in many commercial kitchens today. Each grain of rice carried the subtle fragrance of spices without being overpowering, striking that delicate balance between richness and restraint. It’s the kind of biryani that makes you pause mid-bite, savoring the layers of flavor. The Bengali Fish Fry No Bengali spread feels complete without a fish fry, and Bong Biryani nails it. Crisp on the outside, tender within, it’s a dish that instantly transports you to Kolkata’s bustling street-side stalls. The seasoning is spot-on, letting the fish shine rather than drowning it in spice. The Egg Devil The Egg Devil—a Bengali classic of stuffed, crumb-fried eggs—was another highlight. The texture was delightful, and the filling had just the right kick. That said, there’s room for a small but meaningful improvement: with duck eggs now available in Bangalore, Bong Biryani could elevate this dish further by embracing the richer yolk and fuller flavor that duck eggs bring. It would be a nod to authenticity and a bold differentiator in the city’s competitive food landscape. Final Thoughts Bong Biryani is more than a restaurant—it’s a reminder of how food can carry culture across cities. With its generous biryani, nostalgic fish fry, and promising Egg Devil, it’s already a strong contender for the best Bengali joint in town. A tweak with duck eggs could make it truly unforgettable.

My recent experience at Bong Biriyani was superb. After a long tym it was really great to have some authentic bengali food. Specially the মাছের চপ & চিকেন মোগলাই পরোটা was extremely good. The ambience inside the resturant will give a glimpse of Kolkata. Service is good.

I went for trying the Chicken Biriyani here but ended up having Basanti polao, chicken chap, dimer devil, fish kobiraji and Rosogolla. The taste was so good that I couldn’t control myself from trying the dishes. The staff were very friendly and the cost was also budget friendly. I will surely visit again.

If you're a Bengali food enthusiast in Bangalore, or simply someone craving an authentic Kolkata-style biryani, Bong Biryani is a spot worth seeking out. The chicken Kosha and phulko luchi turned out to be the best, of course only second to the mutton biryani.

Authentic Kolkata biryani served with perfectly cooked mutton, aalu and egg. Worth trying the food.

The aroma of Bengali spices, soft melodies, and charming decor evoke the city's old-world charm, offering a nostalgic escape and a truly authentic taste of Kolkata’s culinary and cultural heritage.

Food is okay but if they need to survive then they need to improve the service drastically

Faced bad staff and manager behavior! Issues with bad food was complained but never addressed. Takeaway parcels were misplaced and instead of accepting their fault, the staffs misbehaved and refused any resolution. Owner was kind enough to reach out personally next day and apologise on behalf of staff. Appreciate his gesture. Hope appropriate measures would be taken next time.

They believe they are a 5 star restaurant. Price is like 5 star and taste is like roadside. Service is very bad. Waited for 45 min for lunch. Quantity of food is very very less. 400 rupees for 3 small cubes of fish. For 2 person we spend 1600 for very very normal food. You can go to a brewery and have awesome lunch at the same price along with 1-1 beer.
