Tasty food altogether. We had idli, masala dosa, veg cutlet and coffee. All of them were really good especially the cutlets. The staff was cordial. Simple vintage interiors.

India Coffee House across locations in India is such an icon and a legendary space for not just coffee but a variety of food and I have always wanted to try them for a long time. One such occasion turned up when I happened to be in Church Street for lunch and I popped in here for a cup of coffee and a light snack of a vegetable cutlet. Service is friendly and the tenured, seasoned and uniformed service team is always smiling and helpful. My cutlet arrived superhot with a squeezy of tomato sauce and some fresh cut onions on the side. One bite and I was transported to a memory of my first ever cutlet back when I was a little boy in Geetha Cafe, Chennai. It was one of the finest versions of the potato mash with green peas, breaded and deep fried. This dark coloured deep fried goodness is something that I had to come back to, probably for the non-vegetarian versions. The coffee was ok and probably I may not come back just for that, it was a decent coffee, but not a South Indian filter kaapi, so I was mildly disappointed. I trust the place is run by the India Coffee Board as an attempt to promote coffee in India and some of the locations have been regularly visited by the literary elite of India, or so I have heard. Pricing was decent for a cutlet and coffee. I paid 95 including taxes, a decent binge that I might just visit, hopefully soon.

Very tasty and authentic food. Staff might rush you a bit but worth going for the food and coffee.

I was so hyped for this place and finally went there. Close to the worst coffee I have had in my life. I'd rate this below tea shops or even flask coffees, very close to railway station coffees. Toast was decent. Waiters are friendly, but that doesn't help the taste. I wish Zomato had a better way to take into account recent reviews. All the recent reviews are 1 star but still overall rating is 4? Needs to be looked into by zomato

The cutleries were not clean. The masala dosa, idli was not good at all. The veg cutlet was stale. Cold coffee was water and coffee mixed together. Only the hot coffee was ok. I was looking for an authentic and ancient restaurant with good taste but seems like ended up in the wrong place.
