Chef Avinash Martins is renowned for his modern Goan cuisine that beautifully captures the stories and soul of Goa. At his newest restaurant, Janot in Bangalore, he showcases an even broader range of his culinary artistry. I had the pleasure of experiencing Janot’s tasting menu, where every course effortlessly danced between local flavours and international influences, creating a memorable and well-balanced dining experience. Adding to the experience is the stunning view of Ulsoor Lake from the restaurant, making it the perfect setting for a relaxed lunch or an elegant evening. A special thank you to Bidur for the exceptional hospitality, ensuring every detail was taken care of, and to Pankaj for curating an outstanding cocktail experience that paired beautifully with the menu. Janot is more than just a restaurant—it’s a thoughtfully crafted culinary journey that combines exceptional food, warm hospitality, creative cocktails, and one of Bangalore’s most beautiful lake views. It is undoubtedly a destination worth visiting for anyone who appreciates refined dining.

Absolutely loved my experience at Janot. The food strikes a beautiful balance between creativity and comfort, with unique flavours that never feel overdone. Every dish was memorable, the cocktails paired beautifully with the meal, and the hospitality made the experience even better. Chef Avinash Martins has brought something truly special to Bengaluru. A must-visit if you enjoy thoughtfully curated dining experiences.

Janot is one of those places where every course feels intentional. The food is creative without trying too hard, the flavours have a story behind them, and the presentation is beautiful. What stood out the most for me was how thoughtfully the entire experience came together from the ambience to the service. It’s not just dinner, it’s an experience that stays with you.

Koyloleo was easily the standout dish of the meal. The charcoal black rice pancakes with a chorizo and dark chocolate filling were inventive, balanced, and memorable. The mains, however, were less successful. The Khandeshi Kali Kombdi featured chicken that was unfortunately overcooked, making it tough and heavily charred. While the tamda rassa brought some enjoyable flavours, it couldn’t quite lift the dish. The accompanying sol kadi didn’t leave much of an impression. Dessert ended on a muted note. In the Mysore Pak Sable, the lime curd dominated the plate, making it difficult to appreciate the Mysore pak itself. Overall, aside from a good start with the Koyloleo, the meal felt uneven, with balance and execution not always matching the ambition of the menu.

Below average food!! Drinks were also not upto mark how can anyone in this day can go wrong with picante. These drinks are priced also 950 one drink and didn’t do justice at all. Keeping fancy names n cutlery doesn’t make a place good. Prawn curry was nice though and that’s about it
