A must visit restaurant for all the vegetarians who love South Indian delicacies. Quality, quantity, and taste can be found under one roof. MTR has always been a favorite of mine and I finally made it to the HSR branch, which I had been waiting for a long time. As it was a weekday lunchtime, there was a lot of people on the ground floor, so the staff directed me to the first floor. The floors are both red and white in their original theme while also being clean, neat, and tidy.Despite being packed, the restaurant has been kept in excellent condition with an appropriate temperature during the hot summers. Although I had planned to eat something specific, I chose to indulge in special meals. The description did sound great and I felt I could eat it all. Later, I realized that I had ordered something while in delusion. The meals began with poori, saagu, chatney, dry vegetable, a salad, a grape juice as welcome drink and a payasam. Apart from grape juice everything was delicious. While I did enjoy the poori and other accomplishments, I was served with a delicious masala dosa. I could have stopped there and proceeded with the next item, but No. the staff kept on bringing poori and dosa, I ended up eating 4 pooris and 4 dosas. Then it was time for rice items, initially it was lemon rice which was nice, then bisibele bath with raita which was delicious. I thought of quitting it, but the staff did arrive with plain rice and rassam and served it saying The restaurant's rasam is something people are crazy about. So I literally had to try it and trusts me it really did drive me crazy. Finally with lots of difficulties I finished everything that was on my plate, then the staff arrived with curd rice, with heavy heart I had to say NO to it, but couldn’t resist the ice cream with fruits. Finally I finished my meals with a desi paan and left the restaurant with heavy stomach. If you ever plan to visit this restaurant, just a caution: the staff is really sweet and try to feed you as much as possible in case of spacial meals.

Went on a Saturday afternoon. The enthusiastic server pushed for a weekend special meal. Very elaborate and vast spread. Great quality, usual of MTR. More than what one could possibly eat. But still worth it and a must try

I have come here couple of times last week and there's good poori, masala dosa, vada & coffee served here. The service is also generally polite & prompt and it's also clean.

MTR in HSR layout was the first lunch we had in Namma Bengaluru and we have been a fan ever since. Before coming to Bengaluru, I had checked out food videos of Bengaluru and MTR was one of the first places and being in HSR it was a short walk from our Airbnb. Later, over a few weeks we have tried a lot of things at MTR like the iconic Masala Dosa, Ghee Podi Masala Dosa, Rava Idli, Idli vada sambhar, Mangalore buns, Poori Saagu and Filter Coffee. Masala Dosa - Perfectly crisp dosa with a crisp outer layering and soft inside, served with a side of ghee, chutney and sambhar is a dream. Personally, I didn’t like the sambhar as I found it on the sweeter side. I have been told that sambar is not served in Bengaluru or if it is, you get the sweeter version of sambar. The best accompaniment to a dosa is ghee and green chutney. Mangalore Buns - Another item that we loved at MTR is their mangalore buns which are served with saagu (a mild gravy with vegetables). If I am not wrong, the mangalore buns get their sweetness from the banana and we can safely say, it is our desi banana bread but better than the actual banana bread. Rava Idli - Rava idli was decent but extremely healthy with a generous addition of dill leaves, yogurt and coriander. The yogurt makes for instant fermentation in rava idli and is best to have it with green chutney and filter coffee. The service is quick at MTR, just like any other udupi places. My wife has tried their meals too and she loved it so I can vouch for the meals, though I would personally like to have it on a sunday afternoon. The pricing is decent and you can get value for your money with MTR. The place is clean and well maintained by the courteous staff. MTR is a go to place when we run out of breakfast or lunch options.

Alright, let's talk about MTR in HSR Layout. The food here is always on point, I mean seriously, their South Indian special meal and masala dosa are pure bliss for your taste buds. The AC sitting area is also a plus, especially during the scorching hot days in Bangalore. But, and this is a big but, the staff here seriously needs to work on their attitude. I've had multiple encounters with rude, uninterested, and unresponsive employees at MTR in multiple locations. It's such a shame because it can really put a damper on an otherwise great experience. So, if you're willing to overlook some seriously bad vibes from the staff, the food and ambiance are definitely worth it. MTR, get your staff together and maybe you'll have some repeat customers!

The food was subpar. The idli and dosas tasted sour, which we believe was due to the batter going bad, but they still served it. The rasam was cold and didn’t tasted good. Highly disappointed.

not a very good option for a North Indian... sambhar imli wala nahi hai, dosa is too crispy, too much coriander

Tried the rava idli, dosa, vada, dessert chandrahara and the grape juice. I felt the food here is an acquired taste. It's not meant for everybody. Especially the dessert chandrahara didn't really like the way it tasted. Also there is long waiting time here. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The only thing good about this place was the grape juice.

I am an MTR fan since last 8 years, however this outlet does not do justice to the quality and taste of MTR. It feels only the name has MTR brand whereas they do not serve anything close to the original MTR. All other outlets are soo much better.
