Condé Nast Traveller's choice: Bengaluru’s cult 20-seater ramen bar, Naru turns steam, broth, and slurps into obsession.
Why people go
Tight, buzzy counter energy, where bowls vanish in minutes, with heavy hitters like Shoyu ramen with chashu, naati tori paitan, and karaage with yuzu dip.
Legacy and reputation
Chef Kavan Kuttappa (ex–Eleven Madison Park, Olive) went from lockdown DIY ramen kits to pop-ups, and now leads India’s buzziest ramen counter.

Can I give 6 stars? I presumed this place was marketed well and food would be basic like any other Japanese restaurant in Bangalore. But by the end of the meal, they had to strap me and take me out, coz there was not one bad item on the table. The karaage was so moist and flavorful, and the temaki? I'm not even exaggerating - I reordered it 4 times. If this is how OG Japanese food tastes, I wish to be born Japanese in my next life. Everything was splendid and the chocolate cake was like quicksand I was not fighting my way out of. Guys, don't give up on trying to book your table. It's worth everything.

Their salmon & crab sushi taco is surprisingly really good. I kinda liked it more than the ramen

1st of all the service could be much better. the waiter wasn't clear in her communication. tonkatsu ramen - great - flavourful, spicy and the pork was good chicken karage - pretty basic. the dip was decent but needed a lot more of it and needed to have more of a punch tuna - great. melt in your mouth and a Good start to the meal crab temaki - nice crab flavour and worth a try though the it tasted more like canned tuna mushroom karage- better than the chicken though could have been more hot. yuzu ramen - not as good as the tonkatsu but still delivers on what it's promising edamame - nice snacks to start the meal of but not a must try. very basic avacado temaki - very bland. definitely not worth a try boba matcha icecream - extremely bland chocolate cake with ice cream - great - rich and chocolaty and the vanilla ice cream pairs really well with it. on the whole worth a one and done just for the ramen.

Overall food taste was ok, nothing stood out. Since I've not been to Japan can't comment on the authenticity but, it's worth visiting at least once.

Underwhelming and overpriced - Great for the ‘been there’ brag, there’s not much for the actual food. The chicken and pork was overly processed that after a point it tasted like tofu. There are plenty of other places in the city serving far better bowls without all the reservation drama. And for the price you pay, you’d expect at least a way to share feedback but nope, they got nothing on that. I guess this place is thriving on the idea of being hard to get into, rather than for what’s served on the table.

Highly overrated. This may not even be in Top3 Japanese restaurants in BLR. If you want to eat good Jap food, try Harima. Thank me later!

I felt the food, ratings and all is extremely overhyped and a facade is created around the buzz of this restaurant. Food was extremely normal and Ramen was not even good. Vegetarians can completely avoid this place as well in my opinion. One truly underrated gem in their menu was Japanese Softcotton cheesecake. Hands down the best I have ever had.

Firstly its overrated and the taste of the ramen and starters are sub par. Secondly its just too much of a hassle to book. Will not be visiting the place again for sure.
