Siddappa Hotel looks more like a college Mess in the days of yore! It is situated in the compound of an old temple in Sampangiram Nagar near Hotel Geo. Having started in the early 90s, it has maintained same décor or non-décor! They open their doors at 8.30 AM on dot and shut at 11.30 AM like clock work. They open again only on the Next Day! Go early since there will always be a Queue to get in 😊 The place can accommodate only 20 people at one go on benches. Go on a Thursday so you get to taste their legendary Pulav, served only on Thursdays! They have a simple and un changed menu from 90s. They serve best of the Idlis with delectable chutney, saagu & curry. Then comes lemon rice either half or full plate (upon ur choice) followed by Khali (plain) dosa. If it’s a Thursday then you can dig into heavenly pulav. In the end you get to taste their trade mark - Half Masala Dosa! 😊 Few people opine that this eatery is below the mark and no proper seating and all. That is immaterial because if you are looking for comforts then dont go here. But if you are looking at old world charm and taste then this THE eatery for you! Bangalore has many iconic eateries of yore and Siddappa’s is one of them! Your entire budget to taste all these goodies wont cross 150 bucks 😉 Do drop in when you visit Bangalore next time!

An unassuming place nestled on the portico of a temple near HCG, Siddappa has been consistently dishing out local breakfast favorites for many years. With an ambience akin to that of a local mess, the place is open only from 8:30 to 11:30 am. Be prepared to witness a long queue given the short time window. The breakfast fare is your usual idlies, tomato bath, khali ghee dosa, and the limited half dosa which is served in limited quantity in a round robin manner. The idlies were soft and satiating, and so was the khali dosa. The tomato bath was as usual, but the half dosa stole the show: it was crispy and finger licking good! As far as prices go, 150 bucks per person is more than sufficient for a complete, no nonsense Siddappa experience.

One of the oldest breakfast joint in BENGALURU One can get that nostalgic feel by visiting this place. Though the place looks little bit shady it serves quality food. Must try dishes: ⭐Thuppa khaali dosa-4/5 ⭐Half masala dosa- 5/5 ⭐Menthya pulav (available on Tuesdays and Thursdays) . . . 🔴 Be patient enough to stand in the queue to get in . . . They serve masala dosas only inside the eatery for that there'll be a separate queue. . . Hungrybirds rating- 4/5

Unique place and an experience in itself. The famous half dosa , rice bath are the highlights of this hotel and it remains consistent without much changes and is not influenced by the review/comments/critisim caz everyone treated equal and need be in queue and wait for turn.

A restaurant/food stop should have everything to be called as a perfect or 5 star eligible place. Everything in the sense - taste, service, cleanliness, parking and a mindset to take customer feedback. I have been to this place before COVID Lockdown and this was my visit after almost 3 years. Can't say I am a big fan of this place, but this is one of the experiences that Bangalore people should have once. Lemme start with parking, which is always a known problem at this locality, prefer to be there in 2 wheeler, which is easy to find a small parking space. Rather than walking off a long distance after parking your 4 wheeler. This is one of the drawbacks of this place. Then comes the service, I can't complain about anything on services, but we must have a lot of patience when visiting this place, because even on a rainy weekday, I had to wait for 40 mins in queue to get a seat here. Once we enter it's a little small space where we get to get breakfast and no such tables to rely on. Cleanliness is not a big deal, though the place is old in its infrastructure, they have always kept it clean and tidy. Good that they've maintained it. Taste is a factor that am actually sceptical about. Coz, I see many people praising the special crispy MASALA DOSA here, which I keep tasting in every visit and not feel like it's upto mark. People come here for HALF MASALA DOSA, in order to wait around 15 mins for that they serve Idly, Thuppa Khali Dosa and Rice bath. I always felt THUPPA KHALI DOSA is the BEST here, more than that crispy Half Masala Dosa. Do you agree with me? If yes, do give a like to this review 😃👍

I visited Siddappa hotel after i saw good reviews on Zomato. To my surprise, it was one of the worst breakfast experience i had. Owner was arrogant as one can be and asked folks to leave who kept requested him on how long it would take. When you finally get to go inside to eat after standing in long queue, you realise there is no actually seating and are actually sharing a two seater bench with at-least 3 people. To my surprise, you can only eat the proportion of items that are served to you (can deny an item but can’t request for extra). After requesting multiple times i was told that they will serve extra quantity towards the end of service which takes about 15 mins. In terms of the actually food, i felt the options were quite limited (which is ok) but the quality was not something i would drive down for. The hygiene of the place was very concerning and i was genuinely surprised that i did not fall sick. The only aspect of this place i liked was the pricing. It was quite pocket friendly and can get generous amount of breakfast for less that ₹50. When i got back home and looked at all the reviews again on why people had posted good comments, i realised that this place has an avid fan base. Folks who have been eating here for many years and are very loyal. I also saw a lot of defensive comments made on post that were badly rated clearly from the loyal fan base. To end, i feel there are many places in b’lore where you can find much better quality of food (only masala dosa was good) with much much better service.

Not worth the hype. You need to wait for long time to get in. Idli and ghee khali dosa are below average, menthya paluo is average and nothing special. Half masala dosa is good but you get better dosa joints or hotels in Bangalore. Hygiene is last priority here. Overall not recommended

It is not a fast food centre or a restaurant but a very old house attached to an old temple. The house is converted into a hotel with wooden benches everywhere. It’s a difference experience here with one big queue to follow once you enter the place. Later you get to sit on a bench either in a room or the hall which is definitely not comfortable. The waiting time can go up to an hour on weekends. Sidappa is an old man who will just sit at one place and supervise. His job is only to collect money holding bundles of notes. His children and the rest of the staff are the waiters or the ones who serve food. This place is definitely not an A la carte because everything comes to your bench in an order only and you cannot order something you want at first which comes at the last. For example the Half Masala Dose. They start with Idli Chutney and Sagu, then Palav, then thuppa Kali dose and finally the Half Masale Dose. If you only want to eat the Half Masala Dose, then you will have to wait for about 20 mins for everyone to finish the rest of the items. What really annoyed me is the attitude of the staff there. They are pretty arrogant at people specially when asked for extra servings of Chutney or Sagu or asking for something which is to be served later or has already been served. It just felt like someone was giving away food for free. The quality also has changed and it is not as good as it used to be before and it’s super pricey these days. We paid about 600 for 4 people and that’s expensive for a place of this standard. One of the most overrated places that I have been to or heard of in the recent times. Overpriced and arrogant staff. We don’t want to be treated like we are having free food at this place. Not recommended.

They have no sense on how to treat a customer. Person who makes the food doesn't wash his hands and uses the same for preparing food everytime on sweat. Make sure you see the person who makes your breakfast, all that hype will walk out the door. They make you wait even though you ordered first, drinking water is a joke. Food isn't great. To top it all, owner acts like he did you a favor. So I'd rather suggest you not fall for the hype, there are way better places to find your breakfast with taste and peace. This was all my experience on a busy day.
