It was during a food walk organized by the Bengaluru Food Bloggers group way back in 2018, that I discovered Umesh Dosa Point in the quaint lanes of Seshadripuram. Since then I have dined there a couple of times when I am around that area which is not very often. Recently when I was asking google to direct me to breakfast joints in Indiranagar, I was recommended Umesh Refreshments, from the unit of Umesh Dosa Point that I happily routed my car to. AFter finding it extremely difficult to find a parking spot nearby, I headed and ordered a ghee podi idli first as it is something I have never had from them in my earlier visits to their parent outlet. The Idli that just disintegrated in my hands as I tried to pick up a bite, that was not just because of the ghee overload atop the podi, it was a signature karnataka style and it was meant to be that soft and break as you pick it up. While it is a luxury that it gets served with two chutneys, my favourite was the kara chutney that had a zing as compared to the coconut chutney. Between the two chutneys, I gulped down two fat idli that was drenched in a mildly sweet grainy podi and a tasty ghee, priced at ₹110. Meanwhile my humble Masala Dosa had arrived already, and it is something that Umesh Dosa Point has remained famous over several years. The dosa here was crispy and very mildly puffy inside, with a nice, slightly potato mash palya inside, with a mild smear of the chili chutney paste, that wasn't that red, like it usually is. This dosa was pure joy and a delight to have, not just with the spicy kara chutney, but also with the coconut chutney, it was truly a perfect choice for crisp delicious dosa, highly recommended, even at a price point of ₹100. I finished it off with a hot cuppa filter coffee made fresh and was a perfect end to a great breakfast and I have reminded myself of this newer outlet that I should stop at least for a cup of delicious coffee, whenever I pass through Indiranagar. Pricing was as close to The Rameshwaram Cafe, if not more, I guess the location that is just off 100ft road Indiranagar might be the culprit, as I don't remember paying this much in their outlet in Seshadripuram, but that is something that I might have to check when I visit that outlet again. But the quality of food was fantastic served from an open kitchen, in a clean and hygienic setting with very quick if not friendly service, definitely visiting them shortly for a breakfast date with wifey.

This standing room only outlet easily has the best idlis and dosas I have ever eaten. Their podi is magical - a combination of spicy, sweet and salty enhances the taste of every item.

One of the best dosa places in Bangalore. Must try! It is a bit heavy on ghee and oil, but overall I think their dosa is the best in Bangalore.

These are my words from when I had my first thindi here in Bangalore - I just about not cried after pondering on how amazing the dosa was that I ate. It was a slow realisation. And, I am grateful I don't live in Telangana anymore 🥲 Since then, it's become my go to place to catch up with my friends over a cup of quick filter kapi and hot aloo bondas. I am biased towards Tamil sambhar. Although, I don't detest Umesh's sambhar, am not a fan. I would rate the thindi items 3/5 if you were to ask me now having had thindi all over in Bangalore.
