Visited Vidyarthi Bhavan recently and had a really nice experience. It’s one of the oldest South Indian restaurants in Bangalore and you can feel that old-school charm as soon as you walk in. The place is usually quite busy, which says a lot about its popularity. The food was simple, fresh and full of flavour, very satisfying overall. Service is quick considering the crowd, and the whole place has a classic, nostalgic vibe. If you’re in Bangalore and want to try a place with history and authentic South Indian taste, this is definitely worth visiting. 👍

This OG place is must …to have yummy breakfasts ….I’ve have been visiting this place since childhood and this place gives me the nostalgic vibes thou…Their coupon system and the authentic way of serving the tower packed dosa and chutney is pretty much the same yet over the years …It was jam packed as usual but its worth the wait to savour their masala Dosa, kesaribath and filter coffee.

Vidyarthi Bhavan is a legendary South Indian restaurant in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, known for its authentic and delicious food. Established in 1943 as a small student's eatery, it has become an iconic part of Bangalore's culinary history. - *Must-try dishes:* - *Masala Dosa*: Crispy, thick, and flavorful, made with ghee and served with coconut chutney. - *Upma*: A classic South Indian breakfast dish, well-loved by locals and visitors alike. - *Filter Coffee*: Strong, rich, and perfect accompaniment to your meal. - *Khara Bath*: A spicy, savory dish that's a staple at Vidyarthi Bhavan. - *Rava Vada*: Crispy fried lentil doughnuts, often served with sambar. The restaurant's interior retains its vintage feel, with old photos and traditional decor. Despite being crowded, the ambiance is lively and welcoming. Despite long queues, the service is efficient and fast-paced. The waiters are known for their professionalism and courtesy. Overall, Vidyarthi Bhavan is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience authentic South Indian cuisine in Bangalore

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently visited Legendry Hotel Vidyathi Bhavan, a spot I've cherished for its iconic masala dosas and idly poori. This place has long been on my list for its comforting South Indian fare and vibrant atmosphere. The ambiance remains as inviting as ever, with the familiar hustle and bustle that adds to its charm. I was eager to indulge in their famed masala dosa, which has always been a highlight of my visits. The dosa itself was crisp, but unfortunately, it didn't have the same rich flavor I remembered. The potato filling felt a bit under-seasoned, lacking the punch it used to have. The idly poori, another staple, was decent but again seemed to fall short of the high standards I had come to expect. The idlis were soft and fluffy, but the accompanying sambar and chutney didn't have the usual zing. While the nostalgia of dining at Vidyathi Bhavan is still strong, I hope they can recapture the magic of their flavors from the past. It’s a beloved institution, and I'd love to see them return to their former glory. Overall, it’s still a good spot for a quick meal, but be prepared for a slightly different taste experience than what you might remember. Here’s hoping for a flavor revival on my next visit!

Never have been a fan of reviews comparing how the place was some years back, but Vidyarthi Bhawan, maybe that's the only way to describe its present state of servings. The dose is still some of the best, only if I hadn't had the same dose till maybe when second COVID wave started. The place became increasingly reel famous & dose became increasingly stale. I'd repeat again though, it's still one of the best in Bangalore, maybe avoid going on weekends & go someday in the early morning, that's when a few lucky patrons get their fair share of great dose & coffee with their morning dose of newspaper. I'd attach some dose before - after on the photos, figure which one's which!

Waited 40mins for experiencing the much hyped place. Tried Masale Dose, Idli, Uddina (Medu/Udid) vade & Filter coffee. Idli soft and as expected to be. But seemed to be rava mix. Masale Dose: Burnt. Literally burnt. They werent crispy but were burnt. Medu vade: ok ok. Filter coffee: too sweet. Would prefer a filter coffee at any of the udupi local outlets or at Sendhoor(kormangala). In brief: this place didnt meet the expectations of a truly amazing bf to be served. Wont recommend for a weekend to do thing. Would prefer Taaza thindi and sendhoor for the weekend breakfasts.

Got seat after 45 min waiting but found to be hype. Rava vada was good. Plain dosa, chutney and coffee were very average. Too oily. Dosa was not at all sour. Maybe masala dosa might have been better. idli and sambhar vada were over by 7 pm.

This one has always been overrated. Probably one of the worst dosas when compared to the other average darshinis across Bangalore. Servers were always rude and very unhygienic from the last 20 yrs, and still are. I'm still amazed this place exists.

Overhyped place for a below average dosa. For double the price you get dosa which is burnt in oil
₹100 for two
