Food: NV Meals with Double Omlet– A full meals served on a banana leaf with 2 veggies, 3 gravies, rasam, curd and buttermilk to finish with; the fish gravy was spicy compared to the others Mutton Biryani – Mild disappointment since the meat could have been cooked even better, spicy on the whole and had the kick in the flavour too Naatu Kozhi Biryani – The meat was well-cooked; great aroma and quantity Brain Pepper Masala – Was almost immersed in the gravy; soft, buttery and worth slurping Chicken Pepper Masala – The spices were almost the same as the brain masala; tender meat stole the limelight yet again Kaada Fry – Poor quail died for us; evenly fried and went great with almost all the gravies Ambience/Price: On the ground floor, there are hardly 5-6 tables while on the first floor (AC) there are close to 6-8 tables. For people who prefer ambience, I’d say “Try some other place”. Parking was also a struggle inside the cramped-up streets. But the service was quick and courteous. There was not much of waiting time for almost all the dishes. Q:P ratio is very much on the positive side of this place. Having said that, it also denotes that this is one of the most pocket-friendly places. *Personal Rating would be a 4.5

This place was suggested by my neighbor.From then when we want to eat any seafood or non veg meals we order here or do take away..It was the very first time I tried Nethili fry and I really liked it.Their vanjiram fry during my Keto diet was the awesome protein in take .Today I ordered Prawn Briyani and Crab Fry.The Briyani was hot & spicy(I love it that way) and was lipsmacking and moving on to Crab fry..It was my very first time to Try Crab fry and I love it

I lovveedd the food from AMALA CHETTINAD MESS!!...authentic chettinad food served in plantain leaf... Very pocket friendly and good quality too!!... Mutton briyani, prawn masala, crab gravy all excellent....❤ it

Amala chettinadu mess one of the famous mess in Anna nagar area as many people suggested me to go here So I Went there for lunch This place is really a worthy place for their reasonable price range for all the menu I tried non veg meals ,nethili fry and chicken 65 briyani Definitely I love the taste of all gravys in non veg meals and that's a must try in Amala mess I am unhappy with their chicken 65 briyani Briyani was ok not up to the level what I expected and briyani quantity was less for the price with three bone pieces

Something that we entered as first timer to Chennai and it doesn’t turn you down, a budget place which serves good Biriyani with side dishes. The meals comes with three non veg gravies that include chicken, mutton and fish. Overall we had good food and the service for also quick. Although we dint like fish fry other things were good.

Amala mess!! It’s been in Anna Nagar and must try spots over a decade. Most of us have visited this place countless times and it’s still one of the best places for their chettinad style and also their biriyani. My personal fav is their parotta with Amala chettinad chicken masala and their kalaki as well 🥹🤤

This was one of the very highly recommended mess-es in annanagar. We ordered many items, but some didn't manage to impress. The meals as such was good, but the biriyani didn't meet the mark; it was satisfying but not the best I have had. The vanjaram fry had flavour but the fish wasn't that fresh. However, the prawn pepper masala, the prawn fry and the mutton chukka were really good. The high point of this place is the reasonable prices. So I would say this place definitely deserves a try.

Used to visit this institution pretty often 10 years back. Loved their biriyani back then. My recent experience not so much. Coming to the food I ordered Parrota - 4/5. Saalna - 4/5. Chicken sixty five - 2/5. Mutton brain fry - 4/5. Mutton sukka - 3/5. Kalaki - 3/5. Prawn masala - 4/5. The meal wasn’t mind blowing like it used to be, you can definitely give it a try.

This restaurant is one of the famous restaurant in Annanagar. I ordered Naatu Kozhi gravy. Taste was good but the quantity was too low. Not reasonable for the given price.
