Dahlia is Chennai’s best kept Japanese secret . Not too many people know about it I think … and I hope it stays that way 😊. We are vegetarians and on a recent trip to Japan, fell in love with Japanese cuisine … whatever limited options there are for vegetarians! Back in chennai as the search for the perfect ramen and sushi and gyoza seemed inconclusive … we came to know about Dahlia . Felt bad that it has been in chennai for 30 odd years and we discovered it only now ?? It has many options for vegetarians and the food is exquisite . The hospitality is warm and wonderful and the decor subtle and elegant . We have gone twice so far and am sure we will be going there often … forever …..

The food was excellent. Everything we ordered was brilliant. But leaving that aside, I have to mention the service - I've never felt more welcome or at home anywhere. The lady attending to the tables is an absolute gem. We ordered - Salmon sashimi, beef teriyaki, prawn tempura udon noodles, California maki, prawn gyoza, and pork katsu. Will definitely be heading back. How to get there - it's on Google maps. Enter the gate, there's parking on the left (20rs for cars). Enter through the main entrance up a short flight of stairs. Head straight ahead. Turn right, first left. Ambience - feels like home. Other patrons - saw quite a few Japanese guests. You can be sure this place is authentic!

We went to the restaurant with a bit of apprehension as to whether the Japanese cuisine will suit our palate . But to our surprise we liked it well . The restaurant is quite small with about 7/8 tables and it is advisable to book a table a few hours in advance. We had yaki meshi which is fried rice and ramen .We also had fried chicken and egg maki. All tasted nice . Ambience is reasonably good. Enough parking available in the campus. Service was a tad slow but the two ladies who serve are quite warm and pleasing and they suggest suitable items in the menu since we were new to Japanese cuisine . Overall we enjoyed our lunch

This place has my heart. A must go for Sushi lovers. They serve authentic Japanese cuisine and their sushis, tofu teriyaki and Japanese pizza is to die for. You'll be served with complimentary green tea with tons of books around the corner and a perfect sitting area. The owners are extremely humble and if you're new to the cuisine, the owners will gladly help you to choose. Absolutely no complaints, shall be visiting them repeatedly.

A beautiful place that feels like home. Food—brilliant, ambience— cozy, and the people, you can hear conversations, laughter, plates clattering and know that everyone there is having a good meal. Oh and always expect a warm smile from Ms. Valli :) she knows exactly what to recommend even if you have no clue about what you want.

What an experience ! Excellent food.Excellent service Ms Valli does her job at a different level! She beautifully steered a motley crowd through our first experience at japanese cuisine and kept everyone happy . Excellent experience

I am a die hard fan of their squid and ramen. Nothing could beat that. The most yummiest japanese food i have ever tried in my whole life. The serving akka is the cutest , she is just wholesome.

It says kid friendly and I made a reservation and only to find out that kids are not allowed. Very disappointed as I drove for about 2hrs and did not have an alternate plan.

Great Japanese comfort food Try the hamburger steak, assorted fish sushi, donburi bowls, udon/soba bowls, korokke and the tempura sets

We had booked a seat for 4 people on the occasion of my son's birthday three days before the date as his birthday is on New Year . 15 minutes before our scheduled reservation, we had called the restaurant to confirm our seat. But they claimed that they closed their restaurant due to an emergency, and failed to inform us prior. The restaurant seems to be open in Google Maps, and we had to rush in the last moment to look for an alternative place. Really worst experience from this restaurant.
