A really good place to enjoy proper South Indian meals. We tried a mix of dishes and were happy with almost everything we ordered. The Ayrai fish gravy had good flavour and went well with rice. The chicken biryani was decent and filling. The crab omelette was different and nice to try. The limit meals were satisfying and worth it. I especially liked the mutton nenju roast and the nattukozhi roast, both were well cooked and had that proper local taste. The viraal fish fry was crispy and tasty too. To drink, we had paneer soda, and for dessert, tender coconut payasam, which was light and refreshing after the heavy meal. Overall, the food felt honest and homely, portions were good, and it was worth the money we spent. A nice spot if you enjoy South Indian non-veg food.

Visited Madurai Kumar Mess located at Vadapalani for the First Time. Super Crowded and most visiting family hotel. I ordered Non Veg Meals, Pepper Chicken Roast, Masala Kalakki. Comes with a decent portion of rice, Chicken, Mutton and Fish Kolambu for sides Kootu, Poriyal and Raitha. Pepper Chicken Roast was vera level super soft juicy chicken and the aroma and flavor of the chicken was spot on finished with Lemon Juice. Must try spot and on weekends you have to wait for some time because of the crowd.

Best mutton briyani!! The flavor and the aroma were so rich and worth the money. Meals is limited and it was very decent. It was served with 3-4 non-veg gravies. Mutton kola urundai was average. Do try their flavorful mutton briyani.

We went for lunch on Sunday....the gravies given for lunch were of third class..insipid, even the accompanying vegetable were worst ...the saving grace was mutton kola urundai....the biriyani was just above average...the mutton chukka was just about okay...it's unlike what u have tasted in Madurai..definite no going back for lunch any more

Over hyped restaurant! Very limited menu and none of the Items were less than 200 rupees. Ordered 2 Biriyanis, Nalli Fry, Goat Liver Fry, Mutton Kari Dosai, Chicken Egg Idiyappam and 2 Chicken Lollipops. Briyani - just some flavoured seeraga samba rice, not an authentic one. Other Restaurants have better seeraga samba biriyani. Nalli Fry - You get only 2 pieces of nalli for a price of 300 Rs. You are paying 150 rs for a piece of nalli. Thats too pricey and taste was okayish. Goat liver - Taste was great, but again portion was very less for the price you pay. Mutton Kari Dosai - Pretty mediocre taste wise and size of it will not even satisfy a toddler’s hunger. Costliest among the ordered ones - 350 bucks. Chicken Egg Idiyappam - Another disappointment! Ordered it to with much expectations remembering The food I had sometime back pudupet thallu vandi kadai. But to your surprise, you get a dry and bland dish with roughly 5 pieces of chicken, 3 Idiyappams shredded with some egg. At least they could have added some gravy to it. Chicken Lollipop
