When a friend told me to try this place, I had to make it a part of my list of restaurants to try in Chennai and let me now tell you that you absolutely must visit this place! We were quite intimidated by the crowd of over 100 people outside the restaurant but were quickly ushered to an empty table. Turns out, the crowd was simply there to enjoy tea and bun butter jam with their families on a Saturday night! The grilled chicken was not the usual affair that we find in most restaurants. It was more of a tandoori kind of chicken coated in a layer of seasoning and butter and made for a rich starter. The mutton sheeks were simply brilliant! One of the best that I've ever eaten in my life ( and that should say a lot about how melt in the mouth and perfectly flavourful they were😋) The mutton biryani had not one, not two, but four tender pieces, and the flavours were quite on point... the sweet, brinjal curry, and of course, the guava goli soda just elevated the meal to the next level! Highly recommended, this one👌

Excellent restaurant. Dosai is printed as "Dhosa". Please rectify the printing mistake.

Food: Chicken 99 - Bite sized meat deep fried and Sautéed well in native ingredients which was both crunchy and tangy; not the usual chicken starter since this had a little more of uniqueness to it 🙌 Mutton samosa - Crispy and flaky samosa with piping hot minced Mutton inside, perfect snack for all weather 😋  Murgh achari tikka - This didn't have any hint of pickle to it; it was tender, chargrilled and juicy but there was no achar in it 🤔 Turkish Naan with mutton sukka - Fluffy hot soft bread with a chewy sukka felt perfect; the Mutton was cooked well with good spice level, a bit of gravy would've been even better 😋  Mutton biryani - A flavorful biryani with tender meat and no frills; though there was nothing special about this, it had the right flavors in the apt amount 👍 Bun maska and bun butter Jam - Those 2 types of bun which is sold in good numbers here; the former has little bun with sugary coat on the inside while the latter was filled with gooey butter and thick jam along with the air filled bun; both are a must-try 😍 Arabian cooler - Grape drink which had real fruit and also felt like a bit jelly which was enjoyable 🫠 Mango falooda - A good way to cool the tummy on a hot day; gooey jelly with pisin, dry fruits, vermicelli and Mango icecream, WOW!! ♥️ Special tea - A perfect fragrant tea which was mild on the sweet level and kicky from the masala 😘 Ambience/Price: Located on the prime spot of the city, this place stands out owing to their late night crowd. They've got dedicated parking space nearby so that wouldn't be a problem.  But, getting a seat for dining and especially during peak hours is challenging. They've got seats on both levels and also a kiosk type for their snacks and beverages.  Service was quick and courteous while their prices are perfect for locals.

When hunger strikes nothing satiates like a hot katori of biryani and Chennai has no dearth of such happening spots.  The Mount Road Bilal just ticks all the boxes. Situated in the heart of the arterial Mount Road, the seating is simple and practical.  Be prepared for a considerable waiting time during peak hours before you are seated. The service is indifferent but quick. Besides their staple tandooris, grills and kebabs, their spot on dishes, in my opinion, are the mutton samosas and ofcourse the biryani.  Their bun butter jam is a hype, you get better ones from its neighbouring outlets. Parking, at times, can be a nightmare.

Had their piping hot tea priced at just 20 bucks each, so tasty, fresh and hot - bought 5 of them for my family and myself. Served in glass cups, street style. Portions, quality, pricing etc all are good! Cheers!
