Such a beautiful and quality dinner experience in a silent and peaceful place. Kudos to the service provided. All the dishes tastes so yummy and the quality of the food was amazing.

I’ve always wanted to visit Mr. Ong with my husband because he’s a huge fan of Asian food. Since he had a conference at Park Hyatt, I was hoping we could finally make it happen. My sweet best friend and her husband came home, picked me up, and we all headed to Mr. Ong — we even tried convincing the hubby to join us, but unfortunately it ended up being the three of us. For starters, we ordered the fried mantou — really yummy, though it tasted exactly like our Mangalore buns! The roti jala with pumpkin curry was absolutely delicious; I loved the flavours. We also had broccoli in white garlic sauce and bok choy with ginger soy along with nasi goreng and mee goreng. The bok choy pieces were huge — I’ve always wanted to try it, and now I have… but I realised I’m not really a fan 😅 I had to keep chewing forever before I could swallow! Both the mee goreng and nasi goreng were good, though the flavours felt quite similar. Overall, the ambience was beautiful, the service was great, and I really enjoyed the evening. A lovely outing with even lovelier company ✨

We went here for dinner recently and were thoroughly disappointed. My husband has visited earlier and was disappointed with the overall experience however he enjoyed the food and therefore we decided to give it another try. It was my first time. It was a hot and humid evening in chennai and the place has no air conditioning but I will not blame them as this was clearly mentioned and it was our choice to go. What I will blame them for is the complete lack of quality. We were greeted by a litter of cats running around. Now, some may find this cute however I couldn’t help imagining them running over the table and licking all the cutlery. Eeks! Quite disgusting. Once we sat down, we happened to look below the table (thanks to the mosquitoes infesting our legs), and it was filthy. They hadn’t cleared the crumbs that had fallen after the previous people left and it really made us wonder if this is a 5 star property. We summoned the GM who got it cleaned for us. I ordered a cherry blossom cocktail that was insipid and had to unfortunately return it. I really thought it couldn’t get any worse but I was wrong. They then served us chicken when we are all strict vegetarians and had mentioned this to them. When our food FINALLY came, it was good.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough to warrant one. We had booked a table via Zomato and even followed up with a call to confirm the reservation. I clearly mentioned that it was for a birthday celebration and requested a nice table with a good view. I also asked if they could arrange a small cake or pastry with a “Happy Birthday” message something they agreed to. However, when we arrived, the staff had absolutely no record or awareness of our booking or requests. We were simply taken to the available tables and asked to pick any, which already set a poor tone for what was supposed to be a special evening. The service only got worse from there. The waitress attending to us seemed completely disinterested, with unhelpful responses to even basic questions about the menu. When the food arrived, everything was brought out at once and left on the table (soup, starter and main course) quickly turning cold. The most frustrating part came towards the end. Even before we finished and settled the bill, the fans (it’s outdoor seating) were switched off. We were left sweating uncomfortably in the heat. When we asked about it, we were bluntly told that restaurant timing was over and nothing could be done. Strangely, we could still see other fans running just not the one above us, but no one took responsibility or even tried to help. Throughout the evening, there was barely any staff around. We constantly had to wait and look around just to get someone’s attention for even the smallest request. To make matters worse, despite such poor service, a service charge was still added to the bill. What was meant to be a special birthday dinner ended with us leaving disappointed - without even cutting a cake. A complete letdown from a place that calls itself a star hotel. Would not recommend based on this experience.

This is my second visit to the restaurant. When we first went there, we were greeted by a large litter of cats next to the table. This is a 5* establishment, how on earth can you have cat's running about the place. In my mind this is a great health and safety violation and is absolutely disgusting, not only because its a 5* property. The first visit, after we ate our starters we requested to be seated inside as it was incredibly hot and humid, we were given a table inside which featured sofa seating. To our horror, the sofa was literally littered with hair which made us loose our appetite and we left. We duly informed the duty manager about the cat's and hair. On my second visit, I was shocked to find the cats again, and this time it was underneath my table and kept running over my feet. There were crumbs under my table that hadn't been cleared prior to us being given a table. I once again, summoned the duty manager and informed him of all this. We ordered a few cocktails, cherry blossom and a pandan sour. My gosh, they were god awful!!! Literally the worst tasting cocktail has to be the cherry blossom! The food is good, but if the cats and the dirty table weren't emough, the wonderful staff at the restaurant managed to monumental ruin our service and served us a non veg order from another table. Mind you, we were an all Veg table. So all in all, the food isn't that amazing where im willing to overlook these negatives. They definitely ain't doing any justice to the Hyatt name. Also as soon as we entered, you have to enter via the coffee shop and boy oh boy the entire restaurant smells of phenyle. I was absolutely aghast that this is how the experience starts.

While the ambiance is great, the food in itself if horrible. The nasi goreng and mie goreng tasted like the chow mien you get at a roadside stall. The cocktail was also bad. I doubt if there was any alcohol. A hotel as big and famous as Hyatt surely does not need to skimp on alcohol. The standard was low and nothing justified the cost.
