This place always flows with crowd and it is pretty much due to their fame for so many years. On any day, there would be some waiting time to get into our seats. Anything with their hot ghee always stands out; be it their Ghee podi idli or Ghee podi dosai/Uthappam. The layer of ghee and podi on the idly would be as much as the size of the idly, TOO GOOD!! The podi on the dosa is similar to little droplets of rain on sand, soft, buttery and spicy with the chutneys. A little bit of onion on top of these makes it WHATTAWOW, Onion uthappam. Chettinad dosai & Mysore dosai were the other tryouts. While the masala and the spices were high on the former, it definitely had a kick from the authentic southern spices. Mysore dosa had good fillings. Hot & soft Medu vadai was great when dipped in sambar; some prefer to soak it but that crunchy texture matters a lot for a vada Sweet pongal & Kuzhi paniyaram - OH WOW, that pongal flows like a river from the ghee with so sweet stuff all around, toasted cashews & raisins if you're lucky. Paniyaaram can be a better companion for your beverage than any other biscuits. Limited seating with lightning fast service. Parking can always be a problem with no space on the main road. One of the most economical dine-in eatery in the heart of the city.

Bliss. I honestly have nothing else to say. Everything from their podi idli to their dosa to their filter kaapi is absolutely incredible. I visited thrice in a span of 4 days and could keep going for their excellent quality of food. Already looking forward to my next visit :)

We visited this place on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. One should not expect a great ambience at such places but the authentic food makes up for it. The staff gave good suggestions as in what to order. We ordered ghee podi idli, normal idli, ghee podi onion uttapam, medu Vada, filter coffee, mini meals which had lemon rice, curd rice and sambhar rice. We also tried tamarind rice. Everything was served on a banana leaf with four chutneys and sambhar. The four chutneys were regular coconut, mint, tomato garlic and ginger. For idlis, I would say that it is one of the best places of Chennai that serves it. It was soft and fluffy. Also can't afford to miss onion uttapam as they were unique. The uttapams didn't have chopped onions in it rather they had shallots (sambhar onions) in it and so its a MUST TRY!! Filter coffee was quite good. The chutneys were quite different and flavoursome whereas sambhar was bland. Medu Vada can be given a miss whereas the four types of rice were not at all tasty. Overall Food 4/5 Ambience 3/5 Service 5/5 Value for money 5/5

A fantastic journey through the culinary experience of Tamil Nadu. Must visit at any time of the day. All items which I have tasted, were superb. However, I found that the pricing of the food is on the higher side. Considering the ambience and the portion of the food as well as the quality, I would strongly suggest to reduce the price of the food items. I believe that if the price point is taken care of, this restaurant is destined for brilliant success nationwide.

My husband ordered 4 items for my mom and packaging was so bad , it is all spilled and one item is missing , she paid the Zomato guy blindly trusting them . This is really unacceptable. She tried contacting your number but no avail. Please replace and send it to her . You can review the order number and do it needful

The jigardanda is not as good as it used to be. It used to have sabja seeds and semiya in it and used to be very tasty. Now it's just badam pisni and the ice cream. Not very good. The idli and dosa are ok and taste fine. Just avoid the jigardanda.

Tasteless food. It’s surprising that in a place like Chennai such tasteless sambhar sells. Any street vendor makes better sambar and chutney. Idli was hard. Dosa was ok. Not an iconic place any more
