Very hygienic and neatly maintained space. Food here is not spicy. We ordered mutton meals, fish fry, prawns thokku, mutton sukka and omelet. Mutton curry was mildly spiced. Meat was tender and delicious. Curry is cooked coconut based masala and tempered with coconutoil. Vanjaram fish fry was fried in coconutoil well balanced and perfectly spiced fish. Very crispy exterior, soft and flaky fish. Prawn sukka stir fried in coconutoil and onion masala. Sweet after taste from prawns and onion was delicious. Mutton stir-fried in coconutoil with a blend of red chillies masala paste was a typical kerala style dish Egg omelet must try fresh and very hot. Bottle water, Rice, rasam, sambar, vegetable stir-fry and kootu is unlimited. Rice and veggies quality was suoerb, can't get better than this. I must mention the staff here they are very quick and service is top class. Must visit place if your in chennai or traveling to Chennai located opposite to chepaku stadium

Meals was delicious and awesome taste. Unlimited meals served on banana leaf with fish curry and mutton curry without pieces. Fish gravy and mutton gravy available separately with pieces , but to order separately. Side dishes - mutton sukka served in vey small thoonai plate , minimal quantity. Chicken fry served on medium size thonnai plate. Vanjiram fry is in okiesh. But for portion n size price was high.Rs 240 per piece. Service was too good and quick. They repeatedly asking for the dishes wat we want. Water bottle 500ml was provided for every meal. Hotel was very crowded and cleanliness maintained well. Can try the hotel for sure.

Parking 1* Ambience 2* Reception 2* Menu Choice 3* Quality 4* Hospitality 3* Taste and flavour 4* Value for money 3* Tucked In a small lane in triplicane, parking is almost nil. The place will get crowded after 1 PM and will be difficult to get table. There is no menu card and order is taken by bearer after orally telling the food availability. Service is quick. Non veg meals has rice, 2 standard vegetables, 3 non veg gravies, rasam. Vanjiram fish fry was big and spicy coated, cooked with coconut oil. Omlette was fluffy and regular one. Overall, you will get a mess experience, not of a luxury hotel.

One of the oldest eateries here - as old as 1961 - and frequented by the higher rung Govt officials, this place is iconic in the city. My experience was average here, their fish thali is a sham - there is one small piece of Surmai offered in a gravy (along with other vegetarian stuff and one omelette), and that's pretty much about it. Of course you can call for a fillet of fish separately, but that is beside the point.Strictly okayish.

Extremely Dishonest Staff. I visited the place on 30th May, 2024 9:30pm. I ordered a Veg meal, 2 Mutton Brain Fry and 2 Sankara Fish Fry. The food was delicious and lived up to the expectation. However, now comes the horrible part. There was a power cut and therefore they were unable to generate a computerised bill. They instead gave me a handwritten bill. Given the reputation of the place, I did not bother to verify the prices. I ended up paying Rs.1230 whereas the actual amount should have been Rs. 670. Breakup as follows: Veg meal Rs. 110 2 Mutton Bheja Fry 2 x 110 = 220 2 Sankara Fish Fry 2 x 170 = 340 The cashier suspected when the waiter quoted the amount and checked the handwritten bill too. But did not bother to correct it. I paid Rs. 1230 via Google Pay and have the payment proof too. Attaching the payment screenshot & pics of my visit to make sure that you know that this is not just another fake post/review to defame a place. While I did not bother to go back and confront them, sharing this here for others to be careful & the owners to take stock of what’s going on here to save the reputation of this renowned place.

We had visited Nair mess after hearing so much about this "kerala mess" Tried their veg meals with chicken fry, mutton fry, fish fry and also the mutton gravy. Overall very disappointing. In no way did the veg meal style or the non-veg sides taste like kerala food. The portion size of the non-veg sides is a joke. Meals was below average and had no flavour or taste. Chicken fry pieces had too many bones. The fish fry was okay but the slice was very thin and not worth 300 rupees. Definitely not worth the hype. Would not recommend it to anyone and will not go again.

Please is located on such a narrow road with no parking facilities. Service is terrible and food is out of the taste. It's like eating in a fish market, such a crowd and shouting. There are far better places like this with better food and taste and location.
