Nithya Amirtham, Nungambakkam – Authentic Tamil Breakfast, Quick Service, Great Value TL;DR (short version): Nithya Amirtham is a proper Tamil breakfast spot in Nungambakkam—easy to find, quick service, polite staff, and authentic flavors. Food is solid (4–4.5/5), ambience is functional but comfortable, and pricing is excellent (~₹250 per person). Overall: 4.5/5, a must-visit for a traditional South Indian breakfast in the city. --- Long Form Review: Location & Access: My friend and I wanted a proper Tamil breakfast in Nungambakkam on a Sunday morning and settled on Nithya Amirtham. The restaurant is on the main road, easy to locate. Parking is limited, but valet service is available—they park cars on the street, which is expected at this price point. Ambience & Setup: The restaurant is well lit and designed for quick service. It’s not fancy, but it’s clean, functional, and welcoming. At 9 AM, the place was about three-fourths full, with tables turning over quickly. Washrooms are usable, and they also sell sweets and savories, which looked well packaged and tempting. Service: Staff were polite, friendly, and helpful. They guided us to a table quickly, and service was impressively fast—food arrived almost instantly. Food: We ordered: - Mini Idly – soft, flavorful, paired well with chutneys. - Ghee Roast Dosa – crisp, rich, indulgent. - Filter Coffee – strong, classic, satisfying. The food was very good overall, easily 4–4.5/5. The sambar was tasty but could have used more vegetables for depth. The menu covers all staples of a Tamil breakfast, making it a reliable choice. Pricing & Value: At ~₹250 per person, the value is unbeatable. For authentic flavors, quick service, and a comfortable setting, this is excellent. Takeaway: Nithya Amirtham is a great spot for authentic Tamil breakfast in Nungambakkam. Quick service, polite staff, and solid food make it a dependable choice. It’s not fancy, but it doesn’t need to be—it delivers exactly what you’d want from a traditional breakfast joint. Overall: 4.5/5.

Having heard about this place, we decided to go there for a Sunday lunch. They have two sections- downstairs which was pretty crowded and a reasonably free first floor which I understand is slightly more expensive. That said, we ended up going upstairs and actually found the prices pretty reasonable and the overall experience great value for money. We ordered the South Indian and Punjabi Thali. The South Indian Thali scores above the Punjabi Thali for sure. They had a very good spread of dishes and most of them were pretty tasty. Service was quick and efficient. Will definitely recommend.

I've been a regular customer here for more than 2 years and always loved the coffee and sambar. But off late the quality has dropped. The sambar has become very sour and is hard to enjoy. The coffee is also inconsistent: it's very thin now and has lost its taste. You need to work on this and hire good chefs to retain customers in the long run. Hope you restore the old standards soon, because I’d really like to keep coming back.

Food is very mediocre and they also don't accept Zomato gold and neither do they have any other promotional offers. Price is very high for the food & ambience.

I visited Eternal for a fine dining experience, but I was utterly disappointed by the taste and quality of the food. The panner pollichathu was bitter as they added too much gram masala, the kofta masala had zero stuffing in the kofta, the garlic naan was pathetic as it was not cooked properly, and the garlic bread was salty. I paid a premium price for this meal, but I felt like I wasted my money and time. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for authentic and delicious Indian cuisine. It was the worst taste of food ever I had in my life.

The food was not worth the price. I have ordered Masala dosa and schezwan noodles but they were worst in taste. I don’t know why people are having meals there.. I believe home cooked food is more tasty than this.. Schezwan noodles doesn’t have schezwan sauce and masala dosa was very basic.. I liked the sambhar with dosa and finished it before dosa.. I will never suggest someone to visit this place.
