The food at Shyams is excellent. While most if not all items are North Indian we did find a unique starter called cheese pineapple in garlic sauce. If it sounds appetizing, blindly go for it. If it does not sound appetizing, still go for it. The pineapple pieces are small so you can remove them and enjoy the crispy paneer coating in the flavourful sauce. Service was excellent. We had some issues like the kulcha being over burnt, they immediately replaced it. Even for the desert when we felt the rabdi was less, they promptly gave us extra. They also recommend based on our tastes and suggest alternates if any dishes are not available.

This is my go to place for a good tnagar shopping day. Usually it’s crowded with the regular office crowd during lunch but if you go around 1:30 should be fine. The best part is the food!! Must try is their paneer tikka (haryali or achari doesn’t matter), the garlic naan and the gobi masala?!? Yes, they really have the best gobi masala and trust me you won’t regret after u try it!!! I wouldn’t recommend the desserts cuz it’s just normal tasting overpriced but if u wanna have desert try the Rabadi.

Shyam’s Bombay Halwa House should be the go to destination in Chennai for Punjabi / North of India food. The taste is akin to food that’s available in Delhi, Punjab etc. The portion size is decent. One portion of sabzi can suffice 2 people. Tandoori roti’s taste and texture is the way it should be. Matka paneer is red gravy - based on Tomato, Onion and has Creamy texture. It’s neither spicy nor sweet or tangy. It’s yummy and well balanced on the day I ate. Mushroom 65 was dry and had some unique flavor. The flavor was neither like chilly paneer or manchurian or ‘65’. It was different but nice. Service could improve. Waiters seem to show selective interest to certain diners / tables basis whatever I’ve seen in the way they were waiting / attending different tables. Mobile signals are non existent in the restaurant. So don’t rely on paying with mobile via UPI - google pay, Paytm etc. Carry cash or card for ease of payment. It cannot go wrong with north of India dishes in Chennai at this place unless kitchen staff is in bad mood :)

Went to this place after watching a movie and it's been a long time since I went out with my foodie gang for dinner. We had to wait for around 5 mins for the table and it was 10pm but we still had to wait so just imagine how good the food is. First of all it's located near Panagal Park and it's a small place with a seating capacity of roughly 30 people. We ordered cream of tomato, dragoon paneer, malai paneer tikka, chilly Gobi, Gobi Paratha, masala kulcha, Punjabi naan, veg satrangi, paneer mirch wala, tawa pulao, boondi raitha, Punjabi butter milk, kulfi falooda. Their Dragon Paneer was heavenly, Malai Paneer Tikka was so good all the paneer dishes were very soft, their tawa pulao was really good and went well with boondi raitha, I loved their Punjabi naan and the falooda. The paneer subji was really good and spicy. Absolutely worth the money spent, would have been happier if they had a bigger dining area and more dessert options in terms of ice creams.

On a Weekend recently, we chose Shyams Bombay Halwa House for our Celebration Lunch. In Starters, Gobi Manchurian was Delicious. Cream of Tomato Soup can be improved and made more authentic. In Curries, Mixed Vegetables was well made. Veg. Biryani was a disappointment and needs to be replaced with Authentic Veg. Dum Biryani. In Desserts, Chocolate Ice Cream tasted good and was VFM. Service was courteous and the ambiance was good. Overall a memorable experience.

Excellent food. Little crowded. We liked the kulfi and lassi. The quantity of the mains were good for two. The person who took the order adviced to pick the right dish.

Loved the food but the dine in is not very neat and hygienic. Strong urine odor hence we left the place. I have previously ordered in and the food is tasty.

I had a horrible experience with them today. 1.. The tomato served had STEEL WOOL ( which is used for cleaning the vessels) pieces in it. 2. We were the 1st to order food in the entire restaurant but the service was so pathetic that they took 20 min to serve us the starters while people came after us have got their main course. One full batch completed their dinner and a new batch came and even they got their main course and we were still waiting & the stewards didn’t even had the courtesy to update us about the order. If I had an option, i will give negative rating. I used to love this place and a frequent visitor but not anymore from today. Guys carry a magnet or metal detector & scan your food before eating 😜

We went for dinner on 28th July at Shyams Bombay Halwa House, T Nagar Chennai. And ordered for tomato soup and starters. Tomato soup had pieces of steel wool which is very dangerous and if consumed would have caused serious health issue including bleeding in the throat. This was dreadful experience. The staffs denied initially and finally we changed the order with other soup. Later we ordered for main course and they did not bring order for more than 40 minutes in spite of multiple follow up. this was deliberately done by staffs just to hide their mistake in the soup. I caution all of you to check your food throughly before you consume while you go this restaurant.
