The food was really great, we tried the salted pistachio matcha, as well as many different dishes including lasagna and panna cotta. We were a big group so we didn't sit downstairs, but the ambiance was still lovely and our waiter Cham was quick, polite, and offered us a free physical photo taken on his camera. Definitely will visit again!

I really loved the ambience but moreover what I really liked was the beverage "Bistograph Snapacchino", we can print out any pictures you want on the coffee it's quite satisfactory and I really Loved their Service too... Must Visit Cafe in Adyar.

The crispy chicken tacos were great, jalapenos croquettes were okay. Good quantity in fish n chips. Fish was alright. hot chocolate was good and milo shake great

Ambience is pleasant but not spacious or conversation-friendly, especially when noisy groups are around. Prices (~₹1,000 per person) feel steep for the setup, though the hot chocolate is a must-try. Overall: 4/5, worth visiting once for casual meals or catch-ups. --- Long Form Review: Context & Choice: An old friend from school, now living abroad, was visiting Chennai. We’re both in our late 30s, and this was one of those soulful catch-ups—families, careers, health, the kind of conversation only “chuddy buddy” friends can have. We picked Bistrograph because it was midway between ECR and Alwarpet, and we wanted a quiet, conversation-friendly place with café/dinner vibes. Location & Access: Finding Bistrograph isn’t hard—it’s in Shastri Nagar, Adyar, on a colony road that feels more like a main road now thanks to metro construction. Parking is a weak point. They don’t have a dedicated lot, but valet service is available. The valet parked our car in a neighboring street, which is fine but not ideal. Ambience & Setup: The café is essentially a house converted into a restaurant. That gives it charm, but also limitations. - Outdoor area – covered garden with a TV, landscaped nicely. Pleasant in winter or rainy days, but Chennai’s summer heat would make it unbearable. - Indoor dining – bakery upfront, then rooms converted into air-conditioned dining spaces, plus a small private dining area. - Noise levels – this was the biggest drawback. A kitty party was happening nearby, and the chatter intruded into our conversation. The space isn’t insulated enough, so noise spills over easily. Our table was comfortable, but not far enough from the noisy group. Ambience is cozy, but not spacious or grand—something I subconsciously compare to Hyderabad cafés, where ₹1,000 per person often gets you more ambience and scale. Service: We reserved via EazyDiner and Swiggy (neither offered good discounts). Staff were polite, professional, and courteous. Service speed was good—orders came quickly. Food: We ordered: - Beverages – refreshing, well presented. - Tacos & Jalapeño Cheesy Poppers – tasty, solid café fare. - Pizza – decent, filling, but not standout. - Hot Chocolate – the star of the evening. Rich, indulgent, and easily the highlight. Food was solid, enjoyable, but not “wow.” Portion sizes were fair, and we may have ordered a bit more than needed for two adults on a limited diet. Facilities: Washrooms were clean and usable, matching the café’s cozy vibe. Pricing & Value: We spent ~₹1,000 per person. For the food quality, it felt slightly overpriced given the ambience and noise levels. A 20% discount would have made the experience closer to 5/5. Without it, the value felt stretched. Takeaway: Bistrograph is a cozy, home-style café with good food and polite service. It’s fine for casual meals or catch-ups, but not ideal for quiet, soulful conversations if the place is busy. The hot chocolate is worth the trip, but the ambience doesn’t fully justify the price. Overall: 4/5.

We ordered tomato soup, chicken nachos and jalapeno croquettes. The food was average, the dessert: six layer broma was good. Ambience was amazing, we were seated in the outdoor space and had a nice time with friends. Service was quick and good. Overall good spot to hang out

we dined here late at night around 10.30 pm and ordered a pizza and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was good, but the pizza was a bit sweet cz of caramelized onions I guess, i didn't like that part of it. The main issue was service which was maybe because we went too late, they didn't offer water nor tissues, everything has to be asked like plates and cutlery, which were supposed to be on the table.
