Let me began the review with the words of my mother who is a sri Lankan. “ after 25 years i had the original taste of my country’s famous idiyappam , sodhi and seeni sambal” . You heard it guys. When you hear it from the person belongs to that land, then its legid. We ordered a variety of dishes everything was nice but we came especially for seeni sambal and sodhi and they were outstanding. Show them love guys. You’ll enjoy Sri Lankan speciality here. Good luck THE KANDYAN crew. PS : as i was adoring by mom’s happy face coz of the food, i forgot to capture the food.

Whenever I want soulful food, this is where I go. I've brought most of my loved ones here because Kandyan has my heart. Their Sri Lankan specials is where it's at- Pol sambal with maasi, red idiyappam, chicken sodhi, fish cutlets, appam/egg appam are my go-to items here and each of them is perfection. Almost like (Sri lankan) Chicken soup for the soul haha. Oh, they're mindfully priced as well :)

Ate with my relatives late at night. The restaurant is located at the back of the building, so not a lot of people can notice it, they instead instantly notice the restaurants in the front. Whoever reading this must surely check out this restaurant. Really great food. Loved it totally. 100% satisfaction. 😊

Food was amazing !! Tried a few items, everything was delectable. Chicken Sodhi went well with appam, loved it. Prawn thokku was another lit. Devilled prawn tasted very good, but it is more like a chilli prawn. Lemon juice, lime soda eveything was perfect. Pricing is very reasonable. service is slow though

I love the Sodhi here, never disappoints me. It goes well with puttu and idiyappam. The prawns and fishes were top notch. There are absolutely fresh and tasty as well. Will be back to try the rest of the menu.♥️

A good place to have food with the family. Red rice idiyappam with coconut milk was very tasty. All the srilankan varieties of food are good.

Great food. Must try spot. We had: Chicken cutlet - 2/5, below average. Egg appam - 5/5, amazing taste. Prawn sodhi - 5/5, coconut based gravy, great taste, not spicy but tasted amazing. Katta sambol - 5/5, spicy thokku/chutney type and oh so delicious. Red idiyappam - 4.5/5, small size 8 numbers, good taste. Lassi - 4/5, good, normal. Bill amount Rs. 819/- for two. Worth the money.

Even though nearby, as the place isn’t by the route I pass by daily, this restaurant has always gone out of the radar. Thankfully during a visit to Bessy I remembered this one and finally went there. The place looks lovely from the outside, thanks to Nolita, which is in the ground floor and has ample car parking. When we went there, there were a couple of families already waiting for the table. A quick look inside, I could spot all but six tables at max. They haven’t done much for the ambience. It’s just two rooms with tables put in there. Their open kitchen as soon as you enter is more interesting than the tables. The paintings on the walls were different, it had a unique style. Not sure what it is about. For the service I want to give 0 out of 5 just for the waiting time but the waiters were nice even though they were delivering the food ultra late. After waiting for about half an hour, we got the table and ordered food, for which we again have to wait for half an hour. Even the water and plates took so much time to arrive. We utilized the waiting time to scrutinize the menu. First came Pol Sambal – a Sri Lankan delicacy, more like a Thuvaiyal down south. Next were Appam and Chicken Sodhi. Appam was a little more crispy than necessary but tasted great. Chicken Sodhi/Stew was lovely. It was watery enough to dip and eat the Appam. Ragi Idiyappam was lovely. So soft and tender. Worked so well with the stew. Then came the Prawn Thokku where prawn was cooked to perfection. It was little spicier than the rest of the items but was a great accompaniment to Idiyappam and the Pol Roti which came at last. For dessert we ordered Paal Idiyappam which was not available. Food was fascinating but the waiting time spoilt it. So overall great food but bad experience, otherwise I would have given even five stars.

Food: Egg appam - The famous mutta appam served with a shower of pepper all over; soft inner layer had a hint of sweet flavor to it. Went great with the chicken gravy 🥰 Devilled chicken - Their specialty chicken, which was almost dry tossed in authentic Lankan masala; the meat could've been cooked better, but the fragrance was awesome. It was sweet, sour yet very different 🤔 Batter fried prawns - Yet another seafood attempt and wasn't satisfied completely; the prawns were undercooked and had the stench smell to it; the batter was okay with red chillies to aid the spiciness but the meat was not okay 🥴 Chicken kothu idiyappam - Chopped and tossed string hoppers with veggies and chicken; this resembled a rice plate, and such was the level of presentation; mild spiced, very less meat but good enough 😐 Pol roti with pol sambol - A coconut roti served with coconut condiment (thokku); both were dry, and the sambol was spicy good, both gelled well together ☺️ Sweet coconut milk - ridiculous that I paid that much for a normal coconut milk; no comments!! 😶 Ambiance/Price: A small place located on the first level with decent parking space. Their decor is good with sufficient seating space. Service was decent and courteous, but they should have suggested dishes from their end, too. Speaking of price, some dishes were worth the price, but some were ludicrous, inconsistent.
