This has become my go to place for nei podi dosai beating the likes of Sangeetha and Sri Krishna Hotspot which are much closer to my house. The last 3 times I ate there only once was the dosai a let down and that was because they hadn't put ghee properly all over it. The size of the NPD is quite filling. Sambhar and chutney are very tasty. Keera vadai has the right balance of crunchy and chewy. Took a bunch of friends from out of town for breakfast and the next day they insisted on not going anywhere else but here.

Best Podi idly I have ever had. The pepper in the Pongal isn't spicy as it normally it should be. Overall it was a great great experience!!!!

#veg #casual dining Famous for it's veg snacks, tiffen, coffee and sambar. It has become an iconic reference place for Besant Nagar. I have my friends come down just for coffee every morning. Some for idly and sambar ( though I don't value the sambar so great like them). I love pongal, vada, dosas and coffee here. I find the rates are expensive because of this store becoming a big brand altogether over the years

After an morning cycle ride in Besant Nagar, I was in search of restaurant for breakfast. I was guided by my friend about Vishranthi. Place was in great buzz by the time I reached. Tiffen was amazing and service was good. Rates are little high but taste was too good

I had to go to a local visit in the city with my colleague and the meet went on for a long time. My clock showed 12 and I told my colleague that we can have lunch outside. From all the suggestions we discussed suddenly Vishranthi struck our minds and we decided to go there. The place was empty around the time and I began to scan their menu to order. We ordered 3 items and shared it together. This is a self-serviced restaurant and so you have to pay the bill first then take your order. That’s how they work. Sambar Rice – INR 55/- This is the bissi bela bath but without the ghee topping. The preparation was so precise and great that this tasted great. The vegetables were perfectly boiled, the salt was precise and even the vadam (sandige) a.k.a the fried snack they served as a side dish to the rice was great. I felt the quantity to be a bit low for the price but the quality was fabulous. The rice was fully cooked and it slid down my throat to my tummy so easily. Must try and highly recommended. Parota Kurma – INR 60/- It’s been quite some time since I’ve had this and we shared 1 parota each. They give kurma and coconut chutney as the sides. We asked for some extra kurma. The parotas are made of maida and its not good for your health. Have it just once or twice a month and not more than that. I was a parota lover earlier and now I’ve started to cut it down. The price is definitely high but it is what it is. They were good and if you feel like having it then go for it man. Just cut the parota into pieces and pour the kurma in the middle. Mix both and eat it. Keerai Vadai – INR 40/- They give just 1 piece for 40 bucks and that’s damn costly. The vadai is good with both the chutneys – coconut and tomato and the sambar but this is definitely unacceptable. I like it and the sambar was great (as like their sambar rice). I felt like having a vadai and so we got this. It was okay-ish. Sweet – INR 40/- To finish our meal, I wanted to have this sweet (Kasi Halwa) as this caught my eyes while I was having a glance of the items on display. It looked delicious and when I had it, man this is heaven. It was scrumptious. The ash gourd (pumpkin) was finely grated and I suppose they added some colour to it. It would normally look yellowish but this had the colour of the beetroot. I totally loved though the price was on the higher side. Must try if you are a Kasi halwa lover. This is my hero of the day. The bill came to around INR 195/- and we had a good meal (I suppose). I think I should come again for trying their breakfast as one of my friends keeps insisting me and that their breakfast is too good. Hope I shall have time to do this after the lock down. Just see the other pictures of the hotel interior, their menu, and the items arranged for display. Hope y’all are fine staying indoors and that’s it for this blog. I hope to see you again in the next blog.

Wanted to visit some veg restaurant other than our regular abode, Murugan Idli Shop. Wasn’t in a mood for fine dining so was checking for some low-key restaurant and chose Vishranthi. I had seen the place buzzing even during early mornings so was kind of enthusiastic about visiting it. The place was reasonably crowded for a Saturday evening, but we got out seats. I was disappointed that it was a self-service restaurant. For the price it was not worth standing in queue and getting the food. Plus, the bill counter was haphazard with people coming in from all directions. Some people just don’t listen. So, by the time I got my bill I was already irritated. We ordered three Plain Naan and Paneer Butter Masala and a plate of Idly. Naan was small when compared to other North Indian restaurants. Idli was good, thanks to chutney and sambar. As the food was hardly sufficient, we had to order again, that meant we had to stand in queue again, which again was a disaster. We ordered one Onion Rava Dosai and two cups of coffee. Both were excellent. Thankfully our taste buds were satisfied when we exited the restaurant so didn’t feel the prior pain. So if at all you want to visit the restaurant stick to South Indian fare.

This restaurant was introduced by a friend of mine who is also from the same vicinity. Ordered a rawa dosa, keera (Greens) & Paruppu (lentil) vada and coffee. All the above items were good for my liking and keera vada was the winner of the morning breakfast. It's so perfectly made that you'll keep repeating the same over and over. The restaurant seems to be crowded always and hence this isn't the place for customers who can't afford to wait and get their order (self service).

Have been here many times before and always fav food is dosa here. Yest for a change ordered parotta and chenna. And chenna for really bad. Too much of spices and no taste as Such. Asked for some Kuruma there which was also equally Bad. And on top of it rasa vadai which also lacked taste in food.
