If you wanna try some lip-smacking Nepali thali then this is the place, Kathmandu kitchen is located near mall road and inside the tricky Gallis. The ambience of the hotel is very simple with comfortable seating arrangements. The kitchen is run by young and very enthusiastic people and after discussing the menu with them I ordered aloo sandheko thali. The thali had so many options and it was purely authentic Nepali Thali, though I don’t remember the exact names of each dish but everything I ate was too yummy. Almost all the dishes I tried or ate for the very first time and it was an amazing dining experience.

Kathmandu Kitchen is truly a hidden gem. All the thalis are so delectable that you'll end up coming back again and again. We've had multiple thalis on multiple visits. Pork curry thali, pork sekuwa thali, veg thali, alu sadheko thali, mushroom sadheko thali all were so tasty. Excellent quality I must say. Starting from the rice to the daal to everything else. Fantastic quantity also. Their momo has a unique taste which is really something you must try. You won't find such taste anywhere else in Darjeeling. Trust me. The atmosphere was so warm, cozy and homely. The little baini was so jolly and helpful.

We had their chicken sekuwa, chicken choila and their chicken curry thali. Everything hit it out of the park for a fraction of the size.

I had my first meal here after reaching Darjeeling with my 1-year-old baby. We trekked uphill to get here, and unfortunately, the food didn’t quite meet my expectations, though that may have been because the vegetarian options were limited. What really disappointed me, however, was the way the billing was handled. My baby accidentally broke a small salt bottle, and instead of informing us, the restaurant simply added ₹100 to the bill without any explanation. When I asked about the extra charge, they said it was for the broken bottle. What was even more upsetting was the comment from the owner. He acknowledged that my baby was very young but said we should take better care of her and that it’s better not to bring babies out for dining. Accidents can happen, especially with toddlers, and while I understand charging for damaged property, the lack of transparency and the insensitive remark left a very poor impression. Sadly, this experience overshadowed the meal.
