One of the most recommended places and why not. Closes early around 5pm .. we reached around 11.40 for a late lunch and it was almost empty. By the time we left, there were people waiting to get in. We ordered - Tibetan tea (see picture) - anyone who loves milk will like it. not your typical tea. Chicken momo - 10 pieces in one plate, good filling. Thenkuk - Recommended. Phing in soup (in picture) - good. note - both thenkuk and phing is served in two bowls, best shared by 2 people. also both are almost bland, suit it to your taste by adding the sauces served on the side.

Finally one Wishlist fulfilled after visiting Darjeeling and it was worth the wait. They only have cash paymentoption so, please carry cash always. Their pork dishes are amazing so if you are a pork lover, you are gonna have a gala time over their trying pork dishes. Their momos were amazing as well.

If you are travelling Darjeeling then Kunga is one place you will hear the most for having your lunch. So did i. After waiting for almost 40 mins which is usual we got our seats in this small but very busy restaurant. Its purely Tibetan restaurant and serves food with love. Tried their Chicken Fried Rice, Chilli Chicken and Their most Famous Momos. Rice and Chilli chicke was okayish but Momo was really outstanding. Prices are pocket friendly.

During our visit to Darjeeling, we tried Kunga Restaurant, a well-known spot for Tibetan food. We ordered Pork Momo and Chilli Pork. The Pork Momo was a delight—juicy, well-seasoned, and generously sized. The portion was quite filling, with 10 pieces per plate. It paired perfectly with cold drink, which we ordered alongside. However, the Chilli Pork was a disappointment. The dish had an overpowering tomato taste, which didn’t sit well with our taste buds. While the pork slices themselves were decent, the overall preparation didn’t meet expectations.

Extremely underwhelming Hearing the raving reviews we went to Kunga. The line was huge in front of the store. We went in expecting great service. We ordered a plate of chicken and vegetablemomos, chow mein and pork chilly. The wait after the order was long but we waited patiently thinking that the taste would make up for it. The food came in with its huge portion sizes. The momos were massive. A bite into to it felt disappointing as it felt like it was a giant meat ball wrapped in maida. The vegetable momos had only cabbage and it had no punch to it. The chow mein is what you get it in every average Chinese restaurant. The pork chilly was tender and tasted slightly above average. Must say the price was reasonable the servers were respectful. I feel They are just trying to make up for the taste with portion sizes. This place does not deserve a 4.7 at all.

Kunga was in my bucket list for a long amount of time. Finally I visited this place and it was underwhelming. I ordered chicken phing / glass noodles for myself. It was very salty. However, it had plenty of chicken pieces and vegetables. Also, I tried glass noodles for the first time - not a big fan. ambiance : it has very little space and that too packed with people. Also, it has an open kitchen so anyone sitting near that area would find it very uncomfortable due to the smoke coming out of the kitchen.

they have only 20 seats. we waited for 2.5 hrs and then we got a chance to get inside the restaurant and order some food. then we got the information that they have no chicken left and so we had to order veg. it was a terrible experience. over- hyped place. not recommending anybody. instead i would recommended the restaurant beside, that is, DEKEVAS. as they atleast offer take away if they do not have place to seat. but kunga is highly unprofessional, they don't inform people anything neither offer take away. NOT RECOMMENDED. HATE IT

The owner/cashier is very very very very very rude. We were in line but They called someone known and gave them the table. Just to confirm my husband went for asking what just happened. The cashier started screaming ki what happened why are you asking questions. She is there first in line. So my husband asked is there preference basis. She said yes! If she could say properly as well. But rude very very rude. She has an attitude problem of being famous it seems.

The place is literally overhyped. They don’t have the stock of one of the most demanding and consumed poultry’s that is Chicken. We had to wait for 1 hour in line to listen sorry from them. The very next restaurant saved our day.
