Washington Restaurant is a hidden gem in Darjeeling,located near the Clock Tower. The restaurant has a clean, minimalistic ambiance, and the staff is exceptionally polite and quick with service. We tried several dishes, and each one was delicious: 🔺Dry Chilli Pork – Absolutely to die for! It had the perfect spicy kick, with crunchy capsicum and onions. A must-try! 🔺Pork Steamed Momo – 8 pieces momo accompanied by a red spicy chutney and a clear soup. The momos weren’t very juicy, but they tasted good. 🔺Chicken Sausage Chilli Garlic Tossed – A marvelous dish! The sausages were sliced and tossed with capsicum and onions, creating a tangy, spicy, and utterly scrumptious flavor. 🔺Chicken & Pork Rice Meals – Both thalis had a comforting, home-style feel. They included rice, dal, two types of vegetables, salad, radish pickle, and papad. The Pork Thali featured 3 tender pieces of pork cooked in a flavorful home-style gravy. The Chicken Thali had 3 pieces of fried chicken in a light gravy—not extraordinary, but still decent. The best part? It’s pocket-friendly! If you're in Darjeeling, make sure to visit Washington Restaurant for great food and warm hospitality.

Tucked away in the charming lanes of Chauk Bazaar, Darjeeling, this small and cozy restaurant—legendary since 1948—holds an old-world charm that instantly draws you in. We tried their momos and soup while dining in, and the experience felt warm and nostalgic. Impressed, we decided to pack dinner from here to enjoy at the hotel. Unfortunately, that decision turned into a major disappointment. The packed food was nothing short of a disaster. The fried rice was severely undercooked—hard, grainy, and completely inedible. Both the garlic chicken and chili chicken came in tiny portions with meat pieces so small they could pass off as peanuts. The portion sizes were shockingly inadequate, even though the prices were affordable. Affordability means little when the food isn't even edible. I had high hopes from such a historic eatery, but sadly, it failed to deliver where it mattered the most.
