the food was exquisite. delicious and the cocktails were refreshing and spirit forward as we love it. we would love to come again. come to pune. staff can smile a bit,! everything feels too serious when i look at the folks making sushi. and tue folks taking orders were also a bit serious. the serving staff was sweet and the chef who gave us mashroom dish was handsome and also smiled also spoke very well, we appreciate that. ps : drunk tezt

Flavors were on point. Portions are small. The chef comes and personally hosts each table, and explains the dish which was good. We mostly had appetizers. The drinks were great and clarified. There were a mix of known and unknown flavors

We visited Izumi recently. The food was okay and the quality was decent, but the overall experience was not very impressive. The indoor seating has almost no ambience. The outside pool area is surrounded by red sand, which does not look nice and it is difficult to even take a good picture there. The bathrooms were also not in great condition and the overall place did not feel very well maintained. There is nothing particularly special about the atmosphere. It mostly felt like people just sitting and eating without any real vibe or experience. Even though the food was decent, the prices did not feel justified because the overall experience was not very satisfying.

Bad service with waiters who had no clue what they were serving and frown to go with it. The place extracts its pound of flesh and does not deliver on the service. The food is great and ambience acceptable.

Deeply disappointing dinner at Izumi Assagao. The worst item was the tuna nigiri, which was supposed to be chutoro. What arrived looked nothing like proper chutoro: almost no marbling, dark lean colour, fibrous grain, icy cold temperature, odd texture, and a fishy taste. It looked much closer to akami. For a premium tuna item, this felt misleading. Japanese food is not about drowning things in truffle oil, sauces, or trendy ingredients. It is about ingredient quality, restraint, temperature, balance, and precision. This meal missed those basics. The tonkotsu ramen was only passable. The broth had body but lacked pork depth and leaned too fishy. The ajitsuke tamago was over-cured and extremely salty. The gyoza was soggy, poorly seared, and ruined by excessive truffle oil. I ordered green tea and was served jasmine tea without being told they were out of green tea. Basic communication failure. I also contacted the restaurant privately by both email and Instagram DM before posting this review to give them an opportunity to respond to the feedback. No reply. Having eaten at the Mumbai outpost, the Goa branch feels like a much weaker restaurant trading on the Izumi name. The positive reviews may impress diners without much reference for Japanese food outside India, but anyone familiar with proper sushi or ramen will see the gaps immediately. Poor representation of Japanese food and poor accountability.

Service was pathetic and sitting outside was completely unhygienic as lot of flies. Not recommended at all under such circumstances.
