Went for dinner with family Loved this place. Tried the Ghee Roast and it was fantastic — rich, flavorful, spot on. Service was warm and prompt, ambience is great for a relaxed dinner, and being downtown makes it super convenient. Highly recommend.

One of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had in recent memory. A few friends and I visited 188 Downtown yesterday evening expecting a pleasant evening out. Unfortunately, what followed was a masterclass in how poor service can overshadow an otherwise decent meal. Upon being seated, we were promptly handed the menu and made our selections within a matter of minutes. Thereafter, we were effectively invisible. Despite several staff members moving about the restaurant, not a single person attended to our table for nearly 15 minutes. Eventually, I had to leave my seat and personally request a server to take our order. By the time our order was finally taken, close to 20 minutes had already elapsed since our arrival. The delays continued throughout the evening. Our drinks took approximately 20 minutes to arrive, while the food followed after another 25 minutes. While I have no major complaints about the quality of the food itself, the experience had already been soured beyond repair. Good food may attract customers once; good hospitality is what brings them back. Unfortunately, this establishment seems to have forgotten that distinction. The service was not merely slow—it felt indifferent. At no point did anyone acknowledge the delay, apologise for the inconvenience, or make any effort to ensure that we were having a pleasant experience. We eventually decided against ordering anything further and simply wanted to leave. Even that proved unnecessarily difficult. After requesting the bill, we waited another 10 minutes before having to approach the billing counter ourselves. To make matters worse, the staff appeared more preoccupied with arguing amongst themselves than attending to paying customers. The final interaction perfectly encapsulated the evening. After settling the bill, I informed a staff member that the service had been exceptionally poor. The response? A casual "Yes, sir." No apology. No explanation. No concern. No accountability. Just complete indifference. What is particularly disappointing is that many restaurants struggle with food quality, ambience, or pricing. Here, the food was perfectly acceptable. The failure was in something far more fundamental: hospitality. Courtesy, attentiveness, and respect for customers are not premium services; they are the bare minimum expected from any establishment in the food and beverage industry. If management genuinely wishes to improve, they need to understand that customers do not simply pay for food—they pay for an experience. Based on our visit, the experience was profoundly lacking. Needless to say, this was our first visit, and unless significant changes are made, it will almost certainly be our last.
