went for dinner on Jan 28th, 2026. lovely place. looks the fine dining part, falls short in delivering. the starters and cocktails were good.. really good (Saigontini, prawn hargow & poached peking chicken dumplings, chilli butter garlic calamari, chicken manchow soup, crispy chilli lotus stem - could be better). but the main course was a big disappointment. the 'chicken in thai red curry' was extremely sweet and totally off balance. chicken bits were tender. the 'hainanese chicken rice singapore style' was far from it. the huge chunk of chicken breast was massively overcooked and tough. it was difficult to chew. the accompanying sauces were substandard. when you call yourself a fine dining place, you shouldn't be making these rookie mistakes. amazing decor and good ambience is fine, but you should prioritize good quality and standard food at the price point you offer. the 'Tiramisu' at the end was the saving grace. loved the place and the service 👍🏼 disappointed with the food 👎🏼

🥃 🍹 &sides were amazing but the Katsu was horrible. Very disappointing watery curry, bland veggies and bad flavouring. I'd suggest you do better

I visited Maroon Room to celebrate a family occasion, expecting the pleasant and refined dining experience I had always associated with this place. Unfortunately, what followed was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. Everything was fine until a band called "Malkauns" took the stage. The volume was unbearably loud from the moment they started. Despite repeated requests to lower the sound, there seemed to be absolutely no effort made to address the issue. It became impossible to hold a conversation with my family, communicate with the waitstaff, or enjoy the evening we had come to celebrate. What was most frustrating was that this did not feel like a musical performance—it felt like an assault on the ears. Instead of singing, there was constant shouting at an excessive volume for nearly an hour. A fine-dining restaurant should never create an environment where guests are counting the minutes until a performance ends just so they can hear the person sitting across from them. The management appears to have completely lost sight of the atmosphere they are supposed to create. There is nothing wrong with hosting live music, but there is a time, place, and volume appropriate for the venue. Maroon Room is not solely a bar or a concert venue. It is also a fine-dining restaurant where people come to enjoy good food, celebrate special occasions, catch up with friends and family, and have meaningful conversations. That entire experience was ruined. To make matters worse, the food quality has noticeably declined compared to what it used to be. As someone who has been a regular customer, this was particularly disappointing. I have visited many times before and never encountered such an unpleasant atmosphere or such a disregard for customer comfort. This visit felt like a complete departure from the standards that once made this place worth returning to. Frankly, it was shocking to see management ignore something so obvious and so disruptive. Before inviting performers, there needs to be a clear understanding of the type of environment the venue is meant to provide. Loudness is not talent, and shouting is not singing. This was, without question, one of the most uncomfortable and frustrating dining experiences I have had. Sadly, it will also be my last visit. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because if this is the direction the restaurant is heading, it is difficult to see how loyal customers will continue coming back.

Staff need to be trained better. Waitress got my order wrong, (which is understandable, she didn’t write anything down- so memory can fail you) what bothered me was that she went on to accuse me of not knowing what order i had placed. I told her that i had ordered something else, so i returned the order . She then later came with another employee who might have been the manager, and they then say “You ordered this , but you’re now saying that you didn’t order it. ” the same waitress then continued about how she repeated our order to us, and i agreed. But when she repeated it (while we were placing the order) , she repeated it correctly. Human error is understandable. But the way it was handled was not acceptable. I honestly just looked at the manager , wondering if he just wanted to force me to drink it .. because that’s how it felt the way they were confronting me. Suggestion- Just write your patrons’ orders down. Don’t blame your customers for the server’s shortcomings. Side note - Garlic butter calamari was fantastic. ✨
