Tried the Champaran Kathal at Desi Bytes and honestly, it was a pleasant surprise! 🌿🍲 The dish had a very authentic, homestyle feel — the kathal was cooked perfectly, soft yet holding its texture, and soaked beautifully in that rich, earthy masala. You can really taste the traditional Champaran-style slow cooking, with deep flavors and just the right level of spice. What I loved most was how comforting the dish felt — not overly oily, not overly spicy, just balanced and full of flavor. It pairs amazingly well with roti or rice and gives you that proper desi, rustic vibe. If you’re someone who enjoys Bihari-style cuisine or want to try something different from the usual paneer and dal, this is definitely worth a try. Will be coming back for this again! 👍

Great food, tried 3 new dishes and loved the taste. Dal pithi was homely, chicken keema paratha was bomb, manchow soup and matar Puri aloo chana was so tasty I almost ordered again. Should give it a try, I will be back again.

Dont go by the online reviews, this place serves the best Bihari and North indian food. Give them a try, you wont be disappointed

#oldpost #CornerCafes #LocalEateries #NeighbourhoodEateries We were trying to check out Desi Byte in Kondapur for a long time, as they serve authentic Bihari cuisine (so we heard), but couldn’t find the chance. And then, on a weekday evening, we suddenly planned to go there, and to our own surprise, we executed that plan too!!! Desi Byte is a small, almost non-descriiptive place inside the bylane of Whitefield area of Kondapur. The first thing that one notices after entering is photos of celebrities adorning the wall, all seem to enjoy the delicacies of Desi Byte. This place has few seating areas in front of the kitchen counter, and a big hall with multiple tables backside. We ordered simple-- Champaran Chicken, AmritsarinKulcha, and plain rice. All were excellent, even the Kulcha too (though, for the price, the size seems to be smaller). Champaran Chicken was excellent. We promised to return soon to taste their Litti-mutton combo, and Champaran Mutton.

I have been searching for a decent place which serves champaran mutton in my nearby location. Disappointed, I found this place. Despite being a bihari and staying in Hyderabad for the last 7 years, I am bound to say that this has been my worst experience at any restaurant. They are literally 'looting' their customers in the name of authenticity. Just because they are providing a particular dish at a distant location from where it is originally found, doesn't give them the license to rob the customer. Their champaran mutton is a scam. I ordered it which was priced at Rs. 589 but it came as a shock. They gave us 4 small pieces. There was a huge mismatch between price and quantity. Their rumali roti and Lachha paratha were also relatively high priced. Our bill went to Rs. 929 for 2 people and left us very disappointed. Kindly avoid this place and ask others to avoid it. Find out an alternative place for such a dish or eat something else in place. Shit. Attaching the bill here.

We ordered one dal batti and one mutton batti. The food was below average batti had no taste and so did dal. The mutton was very chewy and there no one to take the order or even for generating the bill. Food took so long to be prepared that we thought to leave. The quantity of food was very less and even when we asked for more dal…. It never came.

Slow service, average taste….price is not justified. For both, online and offline orders….price is like a 5-star for 2 -Litti plate. Disappointed!
