RoosterX, Gowlidoddy – My New #1 Shawarma Spot in Hyderabad I had the opportunity to visit RoosterX after reading several positive reviews about it in the shawarma scene in Hyderabad. In summary—it was excellent and a must-try. I’ve been a shawarma fan for over 15 years, constantly exploring new places while going back to my staples like Smoky Docky and Mohammedia. A few others—Al Raza, Shawarma Company, Istanbul Doner—are decent but usually far from where I stay. So I made the extra effort to visit RoosterX on a festival day in January, knowing the Gowlidoddy area (between Nanakramguda and Gopanapally) would be less crowded. Traffic was light, and I got there quickly. The shop itself is located at a busy street junction in a narrow section of the main road that’s yet to be widened, with a tricky U-turn. Car parking is unrealistic here, but I managed to park my bike right outside. Despite being on the basement level, the signage makes it easy to spot. Ambience & Service: The billing counter staff were helpful, offering recommendations on what to try. The menu is surprisingly extensive, with customization options—you can build your shawarma and pay accordingly. Orders are coordinated to the kitchen over walkie-talkies, which was a fun surprise. The ambience is the best I’ve seen for a shawarma joint. Most places stick to basic seating with no handwash, but RoosterX has comfortable seating, a clean kitchen, message boards explaining their preparation process, and even western music playing in the background. The vibe is friendly, clean, and welcoming. Food: I ordered a Tandoori Chicken Shawarma (without salad, with fries inside)—so good that I immediately ordered a second, the Chicken 65 Shawarma (also with fries inside). Both were excellent, though the Chicken 65 was spicier. Portion sizes are decent, though if you’re really hungry you’ll want a second shawarma. At ₹180 per shawarma on average, the pricing felt completely worth it. Takeaway: RoosterX combines great food, comfy seating, quick service, and a clean, well-maintained setup—something rare in shawarma joints. It’s easily my new #1 shawarma spot in Hyderabad. I only wish they had a branch in Kokapet so I could enjoy it more often. They’re available on Swiggy and Zomato for delivery, but trust me—shawarma tastes best fresh, right when it’s prepared.
