Tabula Rasa, Financial District – Upscale Vibes, Great Food, Needs Better Service TL;DR (short version): Here’s the short version for those of you wanting a summary, and the long version if you really like my writing style! Tabula Rasa turned out to be a surprisingly pleasant experience with a premium dining vibe at a reasonable value compared to other Financial District options (many charge ₹1,500–₹2,000 per person). Food is excellent (5/5), ambience is lively, but service attentiveness is poor. Overall: 4/5, worth trying for groups or date nights, especially if you reserve in advance. --- Long Form Review: My friends and I (a group of six) decided to catch up on a Friday evening and made a reservation at Tabula Rasa. I strongly recommend reservations—the place was jam-packed by 9 PM and waiting times looked long. Location & Access: Finding Tabula Rasa is easy—it’s right on a main accessible road in the Financial District. Parking could have been a problem, but valet service handled it. Street parking is the fallback, which is surprising for an upscale restaurant. At the reception, they check reservations before seating you. Dress code matters—business casual or jeans/t-shirt is fine, but shorts are not. One of my friends wore smart shorts and was denied entry; we had to plead with the manager to get in. Lesson learned. Ambience: I’d tried Tabula Rasa’s food via Swiggy before and thought it was good, but the in-person vibe impressed me. The space has a dance floor, DJ booth, and a huge LED screen, with standing tables and open areas for dancing. Outdoors wasn’t super pleasant on a summer evening, but they had air coolers/humidifiers to make it bearable. Seating options are varied—romantic indoor tables, quiet open spaces for groups, and comfortable arrangements that we opted for. Despite loud DJ music nearby, our section felt surprisingly calm. Service: This is where Tabula Rasa falls short. Service quality was poor—barely anyone attended to us, even for water or taking orders. We spent nearly three hours at our table until midnight, and only the bouncer eventually asked us to leave. Food: The food itself was excellent—spicy, flavorful, and well portioned. I personally liked the spice levels, though some of my friends found it high. Highlights: - Non-veg platter – a must-try, but eat quickly as outdoor AC/fan units cool the food fast. - Vegan options – appreciated by our group, showing inclusivity. All dishes were top-notch, easily 5/5 for taste and quality. Portion sizes were generous, and pricing was reasonable compared to other premium spots in the area. Facilities: Washrooms were good, as expected for an upscale venue. Takeaway: Tabula Rasa offers a lively, premium dining experience with excellent food and ambience at fair value. Service attentiveness needs improvement, but for groups looking for a fun Friday evening or couples wanting a vibrant date night, it’s a strong option. Overall: 4/5, with food carrying the experience.
