Soul Food The culinary landscape of Jaipur had begun to resemble a desert, in that each eatery, although unique in appearance, only 'appeared' differentiated, when in actual fact, a tired & repetitive menu, substandard produce, unimaginative ingredients were being tossed together with a rather unhealthy dose of processed ungoodness! That was until The Alchemist. In keeping with its reverential name, this couldn't-come-sooner savior had seriously perked up my wife Anuja's and my own otherwise-staunch love or our historic pink city. I could wax lyrical about this eatery till the cows grazed and returned. But in the interest of the generation I want desperately to visit and subsequently patronize The Alchemist, I'm going to simply list key highlights. 1. The generous & open space, covered as well as al fresco, is thoughtfully designed by our friend Devyani from The Kotri. Classical Contemporary might be a fitting encapsulation of the aesthetic. Pleasing, comfortable, inviting. 2. The menu, in its own aesthetic, chic, modern, easy, three-part. In its content, showcasing a diverse selection of what I'd call 'elevated' cafe-cuisine, an intriguing combination of Asian, Global, European 3. The taste - fresh, flavourful, balanced, expressed through an array of preparations that, while each champions a particular produce & flavor, also brings either surprise, or contrast, or both! By far and by a long shot, the tastiest food in town. Particular favourites of ours thus far include The Bachelor's Chicken Subway Sandwich, the Pulled Mutton & Cheese Sandwich, the Roast Chicken, the Greek Salad. Special mention of the Ciabata bread used for the sandwiches; light, airy, crisp, yummy. Interesting dessert roster too. The eclair is especially tantalizing 4. Value, for the taste, freshness, sophistication, portions, is very good 5. Location, quaint, dead-end lane in c scheme 6. Service, perhaps the lone gripe. But we're assured by courteous manager Yashasvi and by Head Chef Sahil, this is an aspect being specifically and urgently addressed It may not be a stetch to say that The Alchemist then is akin to that rare & illusive oasis. When you do reach it though, it's sure to quench your thirst, hunger & soul!

Went at the Alchemist Cafe with a bunch of friends they had hosted an “Off the Menu” event. It was hosted by the cafe inviting an outer chef for new items on the menu. The food was tasty and thoughtful. They had a Mediterranean theme to the new menu. The cafe menu was also equally great. The coffees refreshing and rich.

Alchemist is the local coffee shop that becomes your regular spot. The staff is friendly. The chef himself interacts with the guests often. Welcoming ambience. The food menu is thoughtfully curated. They have a different dinner menu which is run under the name Barrio. Love that creative idea. Do visit!

Detailed review, not sponsored —- Pistachio Latte - Refreshing, couldn’t taste pistachio a lot, but still pretty good. Vanilla Shake - NO Alfredo Pasta - One of the best in Jaipur. Right amount of garlic. They know what they’re doing. Hassleback Potatoes - Fresh flavours, nicely done, lovely sauce. For anyone looking to try new dishes. Broccoli Wontons - Can skip Overall, great ambience, nice music and vibe, sweet staff, great taste and service. I just wish the smell from the smoking area wouldn’t float to the inside dining, defeats the purpose of keeping the smoking area separate. MUST TRY.

The ambience is good and the staff is polite but the food is absolutely absymal and horrendous. Everything tasted very off, to a point where it was difficult to finish.

I went to alchemist today to work. I was asked 3 times by three different staff if I wanted to order something. I had a coffee and a sandwich. the coffee - popcorn caramel frappe was good. the sandwich - disaster. I order half because I assumed full might be too much for me and I have attached the picture of it. I was very disappointed, it was not worth 210 rs. they should really work on their portion size and gain clarity on if they want to remain a work cafe or no.
