Cafficana Kochi is an aesthetic cafe located in Panampilly Nagar. During my visit to the beautiful city last month, I went to this cafe for dinner. With the endless number of Cafes in Kochi, you will wonder where to go. I have a friend who is a huge foodie like me and her recommendations are always top notch. Coincidentally, she visited this cafe for lunch that day, so when I saw the mouthwatering photos, I asked her the details. This is how I came to know about Cafficana Kochi. It was a Friday night and most of the tables at the ground level were occupied, so we went to the first floor and happened to be the first set of customers. As soon as we were seated, the waiter came to take our order. The menu is pretty vast, so you will have a wide range of dishes to choose from. Here is what we ordered: 1. S'More Hot Chocolate - Hot Chocolate is something which reminds me of winter and Christmas Time. But in India, Hot Chocolate is something you can enjoy any time of the year. The Hot Chocolate was thick and sweet and served in a tall mug. Hot Chocolate is never complete without marshmallows, so there was a huge marshmallow chunk skewered on a wooden stick and placed carefully and neatly on the mug. See pic for more details! 2. Caramel Macchiatto - When it comes to Cappuccino, I love flavoured ones. Caramel is one flavour I normally order when I visit a Cafe. It looked so perfect when it was served in the ceramic mug. As it was piping hot, I had to wait for a few minutes to take the first sip. 3. Bready Cheesy - I love garlic bread. Let it be with just cheese or toppings like green chillies or onions, I am a huge fan of garlic bread. This one was extremely cheesy and you could see the steam circulating in the air. One portion comes with two long baguette shaped bread cut into six pieces. 4. Veg Fettuccine Primavera - I love any shape or kind of Pasta. Fettuccine is one which you don't find often and when it's available in the menu, then I will definitely order it. One portion is sufficient for 1 to 2 people. The Fettuccine was thick and soft. It was cooked perfectly in olive oil and tossed in white sauce along with carrots, olives and cherry tomatoes. On the top was a small piece of garlic bread smeared with pesto. 5. French Vanilla Iced Latte - After eating all these items, I was feeling extra thirsty and decided to order something cold to quench my thirst. The menu is very big, so I was pondering over what to order. Finally, I settled for the French Vanilla Iced Latte. It was very cold as the glass had been filled to the brim with ice cubes. Loved the taste and I will recommend this for those who love vanilla essence. 6. Blueberry Cheesecake - No meal for me is complete without dessert. Even if I don't have any space left in my stomach, I will still order it and have it packed so I can eat it later. I ended up eating it as a midnight snack and must say it was sweet, but not too overpowering, especially on the blueberry compote. My maiden visit to Cafficana Kochi was a good one. Enjoyed the ambiance, the service and most importantly, the food! Even though it was crowded, we did not have to wait for our orders. You can count on me to visit this place in the future to try more of the dishes.

I was on my two wheeler to drop my brother off at the bus station so he can traverse back to Bangalore. On our way my brother insisted he needed a coffee, I was happy to comply. We found this coffee place just 1.5 km away from my home. I parked my scooter ahead of 2 other bikes. My brother went in to check their menu out. That's when this guy who works as a valet comes up and tell me I cannot park my two wheeler there cause then they wouldn't have space for a car. Inspite of two two wheelers parked on the side, they somehow didn't want a scooter parked up front. He asked us to park it outside the property, cause you know people who come in 4 wheeler are kings but people who actually use more eco friendly and economical means of transport aren't as welcome. It was a horrible experince. This is the most classist place I have ever come across in panambilly. And mind you I have been staying in that area for 1.5 years now. I hardly come across a place where they do not have a designated space for 2 wheelers. I guess this is how they keep the poor customers away. I do own a car, but decided against it in this traffic. But if this how they treat me, I wonder how they treat the poor.
