Searching for the Best Shawarmas and Grills in town? Your search ends here. Visit Charcoal Shack Kochi for a great treat with Grills, Arabian, Caribbean and Jamaican cuisine. It was a warm, sultry Monday afternoon and the Queen of the Arabian Sea was probably mulling about a drizzle. This was precisely the time we reached Charcoal Shack, the abode of smokylicious meats and sizzles. Over a period of time Charcoal Shack has gained a sense of belonging among its Patrons, identical to a cult following. We were welcomed by the enthusiastic manager, Vineesh and he escorted us to the first floor to a cozy corner with stained glass coloured windows overlooking the highway and metro. We settled for Jamaican Al-fahm which comes riding on an ultra soft Kubz and garlic touhm on the side. The chicken is so soft and juicy and each bite into it send ripples of tangy flavours in your mouth. Must must try! Jamaican grilled BBQ wings- this one is to k ill for! Tender chicken wings tossed in Jamaican spices-based marinade and grilled over a bed of red hot charcoal. 'Irie' as they say in Jamaica. Caribbean crunchy beef- grill pressed double pita bread in a crunchy avatar with a generous filling of beef flavoured with Caribbean flavours. Jamaican Beef Kuzhimandi- The Baap of mandi style rice and meat. Succulent, tenderized steaks of beef marinated in Jamaican flavours served on a bed of flavoursome long-grained aromatic rice. Just brilliant! Fajita pressed Sandwich- The quintessential Tex-Mex cuisine fusion food aka Fajitas with amazing fillings, crunch pressed flat panini bread- a melange of crisp and mushy. Fish Grilled- its an amalgam of spices and marinade applied liberally on juicy, fresh sea fish, barbequed to near perfection on the char-grill- an explosion of masalas on yiur palate. Kunafas- this erstwhile Palestinian dessert is literally caught the whole wide world by storm and is already overtaken the baklavas. It is dunked in sweet sugary syrup and it just melt in your mouth. Also wash it all down with their refreshing and reinvigorating coolers like mint cooler, laden with passion fruit and minty or sunrise which is yet another signature drink. If you are a 'chai' person, indulge yourself in the beautiful, effervescent and fragrant passion fruit tea! Special thanks to Mr Ashkar, manager and Vineesh- you guys have been wonderful hosts- Shukran Jazeelan folks! Kullu tamam, Al Khalas!

I love restaurants with limited menus. It usually means that the dishes they do serve, they do really really well, and that is absolutely the case here. They serve charcoal chicken, Jamaican chicken, beef and chicken Mandi and beef and chicken shawarmas. The charcoal chicken is the best I’ve tried so far in Kochi. The meat is beautifully marinated and comes super juicy. I did ask for a less spicier version, but the one I received was still super spicy. 4/5 The chicken Shawarma: They have a regular version and a full meat version. The regular has salad fillings and chicken, while the full meat has only chicken and French fries and is a winner. It has a nice smoky aftertaste to it and is not overly sauced. 5/5 The Beef Shawarma: They have a regular version and a full meat version. The regular has salad fillings and beef, while the full meat has only beef and French fries and is also a winner. Super generous servings of tender beef makes this my favorite. 5/5 The Beef Mandi: Mandi is usually served with lamb or chicken, but I must admit that the beef works though. The beef could have been a tad more tender, but the rice was absolutely spot on. 4/5 Service is very attentive and relatively quick. Value for money: 4/5 Overall: 4/5

Found this shack in the heart of Kallor. A decent place, which gets so busy by say 1 pm. We started our course with passion fruit and sunrise coolers. The Charcoal grill Chicken here is so filled with flavours and done just right; is accompanied by garlic sauce dip - Must try. My favourite was the Caribbean crunch beef which is a sandwich filled with juicy beef fillings and pressed in pita bread. Also tried the Jamaican beef Kuzhimandi, Fajita pressed sandwich, grilled fish, passion fruit tea and Kunafa. Thanks to the wonderful host, Mr. Vineesh who made out dining special!

I used to really like this place. Just ordered again and the taste has changed. Its not bad but it doesnt taste like before. Its just a normal average roll now. Maybe the cook changed? Anyways, I dont think ill order from here again.

the beef mandi was horrible!! the paneer butter masala was also not that good .Otherwise, the beef shawarma was decent, and the al fahm category is pretty good.

I used to order jamican Mandi from here.. but my previous order tastes something very weird . Later kalamassery municipality published the shocking news of charcoal shack as one among the restaurant which delivers stale meat chicken to customers... It's a total shame on me to trust such stupid restaurants for tasty spicy food over humungus charge and hidden unhygienic values . I stopped buying from here the day I verified the news .
