Oh my god..!! What an experience.. when ever u go to mattancherry. This place must be on your visit list.. I went in around 1.30pm on a Sunday, mutton Biryani was over by then. And I ordered chicken Biryani n mutton roast.. both were yum... What ever u order from here make sure u order mutton roast along with it. Better park elsewhere and take an auto to get there..road is bit congest ed.

We ordered veg meals, chicken Biriyani, fish fry, beef fry. Everything tasted the real Kerala food taste. Price were the best, affordable cost for tasty dishes. Sitting areas are not that cosy or anything. They were simple wooden table and chair. Little crowds at peak hours.

One of the best places to Authentic Kerala Biryani. Very unique taste, served along with dates pickle, lemon pickle and onion 🥗 salad . Loved the preparation been here exactly at 12 pm it was served hot. Good service.

⚡️What’s on the menu? •Kayikkante Chicken Biriyani (₹130) ‘A Fort Kochi Legend’ Ask anyone in Mattancherry and they’ll make you salivate and drool over the rich history and taste of Kayees chicken biryani and their evening munchies. In a cramped corner of the street you’ll find this small but fairly accommodating restaurant. As soon as you step inside, you’re welcomed by the rich aroma of the spices used in their many delicacies. Finding a table at rush hour is always difficult but we were fortunate and it was an easy order, 4 Kayees Biriyani. The presentation is no different from any other biriyani place but you’ll find a lot of chicken in a single plate and the rice & spice mix is something truly authentic to Fort Kochi and Kayees. Reminiscing on the many movie and song references while munching on this flavor filled plate was a tick on my bucket list. After asking around the locals we were amazed to find out that the place is better known for their special Egg Roast (Black in color), ‘as it’s something you’ll never find anywhere else’. Plus, the 4’o clock snacks and chai is a must have I.e if they don’t sell out. Kayees also have outlets that serve the same authentic Biriyani in Kochi as well, but I’d suggest one to visit this small shack for the real experience. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️ Get yours at Kayees Rahmathulla Cafe at Mattancherry. Brought to you by @eataasy .

One of the legendary biryani places in Kochi. Had been there some 5 years back and enjoyed those biryanis after having to wait for more than an hour. Thought to revisit the place recently. Have to say the food still retains its quality. Mutton biryani with those pickles and salad it true delight. But, what really bothered me was the service. We were fortunate enough to get a table immediately after entering. But we then had to wait more than 10 mins to be attended my a staff. This in spite of having every table occupied. It was not because of the lack of staff as there were many around. In spite of repeated requests, they just wouldn’t bother as it would be attended by the table to which the table was assigned to. And that person has suddenly disappeared. All the while, we would hear loud calling bells ringing from the billing counter calling for staffs. Finally after 15 mins or so, we were attending and served. Another concern which really disappointed me was how badly the toilets and the wash area was maintained. It’s really disappointing to see such an established brand in a tourist area being least bothered about these basic things. Hope somebody looks into it and fixes it soon.

I guess Kayees has lost its taste and charm. Is it because we been exposed to new outlets? Better preparations? Might be!! What I feel is they should take some extra care in sourcing better meat and preparing it with love. The B rice, aroma, taste still is retained but the meat, it's hard, not tender, full of bones, and is somehow looking very commercial. The warmth is missing.

With high expectations we went to kayees restaurant to have their famous chiken biriyani. The place was bit crowded we waited a while to get a seat. The place was hot and untidy but for the famous biriyani we waited eagerly. Biriyani came with 3 side dish, the biriyani crushed my expectations😂 it was not tasty, for god sake I only ordered a half biriyani.. the jeera water was the only thing I liked their.. biriyani from Masafi hotel, kadavanthra, is far far better than this one.. I have no idea why this much high appreciation for this below average biriyani.. 😐
